Removing distributor rotor?
Any ideas? I have a 97 non-vtec 4cyl and I am trying to replace the cap and rotor. The rotor has that shield so I can't get to the screw on the rotor. I have been doing the hit and miss method of looking at the rotor after driving to see how it is postioned. I've been hoping it would stop at that area of the sheild that I can get the screw driver through. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you take the spark plugs out, you can grab the crank pulley & spin the engine. FORWARDS ONLY. That's counterclockwise for a '97 4-cyl.
It's convenient if you're doing this at the same time that you install new spark plugs.

if you crank your engine with the dizzy cap off the rotor spins also, make sure its back at the mark when you replace everything, or your car will not start...

just turn it over with the distributor cap off, a "rev" at a time, until the rotor screw is visble and obtainable.
Shouldn't take you more than 3 minutes to change the cap and rotor.
