Default A real basic question.

Hello,
I have a 91 Accord with the f22 non Vtec engine.
The engine is bone stock, I have added DC headers, CAI with K7N air filter, and a 3" Flowmaster Super 44 -which I pirated from my 70 Chevelle.
My question is if adding an adjustable cam timing sprocket would have any noticeable effect in my engine's performance, so that I do it while I replace the timing belt and adjust the valves this next service.
I am not familiar with how small displacement engines react to cam timing changes, and wonder whether advancing the cam 4-6 degrees using the adjustable sprocket, would restore some of the "get up and go" I lost when I installed slightly larger tires (215-40R17), without sacrfificing the economy that I love so much.
I and trying hard not to mess with the engine internally as this would be the first vehicle I have owned that I haven't hot rodded the engine (yet!) therefore I intend to keep away from a cam swap.
So what do you guys think I could expect from having cam adjustability? is it worth the price of admission?
Thank you very much for your comments
Thanks.

If you had an upgraded cam then this would be worth the investment.

Until then, save you money for an all-motor or forced induction build!

stock engine with stock cam? no.

with these little honda's to get power out of timing, you're going to have to rip the block apart up the comp ratio, open the heads up, and try to get some CFM out of them.

even then, you're going to want to get into forced induction/nitrous.

haha nothing like those older chevelles where they reach stupid amounts of power/torgue for cheap!!!

As I said I want to keep the engine stock for the economy. However that last thing you mentioned has been tickling my interest... I could "borrow" the NOS bottle and solenoids off my Chevelle, as a matter of fact that is why I started thinking about advancing the cam, since nitrous likes the exhaust valve to open a little sooner.
And the stupid torque thing, I hear you! I had a BBC on my Chevelle that had 620HP@6500/550lbft@5000, before the nitrous!... impressive on paper but totally useless on the street and even on the strip unless you had slicks on.
I sold the BBC and I am on the process of installing an LSX, fuel injected and of course nitrous injected that will be much tamer for weekend enjoyability.
Thanks

No, having an adjustable cam gear on a stock Accord motor is useless. They look pretty though if you hack up the valve cover and/or timing belt cover.
The only thing about nitrous is that you stated you want to keep it stock.. The nitrous will effect reliablitly of your vehicle with all stock internals an valve train.. How big of a shot are you thinking for the accord?
