i have a 94 accord and the vtec stopped working. my check engine light is on and give me a 21 which is the solenoid. so i changed is and did not work, so i changed the pressure switch and still nothing!!can someone please help me on that.

 

i think you can check the solenoid by connecting it straight to the batter to see if it is operating or not, can someone confirm this? i know the oil pressure has to be at a certain point for the vtec to be activated.

 

what should the soleniod do when i hook it up to the battery?

 

Make sure you don't get the connectors mixed up. I did that on my H swapped and my vtec never kicks in and it threw a CEL code 22. I got the coolant connector B mixed with my pressure switch sensor.

If not one of those problems then check your wiring from the solenoid to the ECU to see if they're loose. Jiggle your vtec wires at the ECU pin point to see if the CEL would go away, if it does then thats your problem.
