See then I was not totally off in my assessment then...
What do you think your goal will be for your hatch?? Are you trying to break
records or just your wallet for now?? And would it be for drag, strip, auto x, etc?

Mainly just breaking my wallet! LOL. Actually, I want to build a car that will be mainly for auto-x. However, I still want some power under it for the drag strip. Kinda an all purpose car I guess. It was originally just going to be a daily driver, and another hybrid. That way I had something while I worked on the Accord and made it full blown race. Then I decided that I love the Accord as a street car, and decided to make the hatch the race car. I can't wait to pick it up. Hopefully all the paperwork goes through soon.

I'm into performance, not looks. If a part doesn't do something positive for the car in terms of performance, then it is not going on there. The only "appearance mod" that I have is a set of clear corners that I bought back in early 1999.

Most of my knowledge comes from experience, close friends with first hand experience, my grandfather who is a mechanic, and lots of research. I have worked on my Accord for a long while now, off and on. I have also had two Civics. The EG was most definitly my favorite (and fastest). A lot of my knowledge pertains to Civics, for I have done the most work on them I also have tons of Corolla knowledge from the AE92 Corolla GTS that my wife and I used to have. That was one hell of a sleeper. I killed a lot of cocky little Si's in that thing.

As far as the Accord goes now, I am contemplating selling it and getting a 240SX or DSM, or keeping the Accord. I can't decide what to do. I really like the Accord, but I hate having an auto now. That is a big factor.

This board has got to be one of the best Accord boards yet. I like that you can come on here and ask a question and get a genuine answer and not some bullshit from a 16 year old. Let's all keep up the good work.

Big James- ever thought about running in a real wheel to wheel race series?

I sure have. Honestly though, with my job, I just don't have the time to take off for all of the events to be competitive. I only have weekends off once every 4 months, so it is very hard to travel.

I understand, what kind of job keeps you tied up that much if you do not mind me asking?

Well i guess my goal would be to make one of the prettiest, performance Honda's on the East Coast. A car with balance and style that can hold its own against its peers and probably a little more. Yet still be a reliable daily driver. Other than that I will probably look into an M3 or 540 BMW later down the road...

James- that is a very good job

my hopes are to eventually make the Accord a full track car and purchase a daily beater for commuting, I like the fact that no one thinks the Accord can be a competitive track car, makes it a challenge.

Thanks. I agree totally with you on the challenge part. That is the only reason I kept the Accord auto. I would love to make the Accord a track car, but it is just too much fun to drive on the streets.

Pratt & Whitney you say? Hmmmm...

I happen to think that an Accord can be one hell of a track car. They handle very well, and they can be made to be pretty light. Plus, they have a decent amount of torque, depending on which engine you have, for a Honda. Plus, there are tons of parts. Accords also make great sleepers.

By the way, I would like to know how one could get started in SCCA racing, such as Solo II? Thanks.

I prefer looks over performance. Honda Accord is not FAST. Even with H22 swap, intake, exhaust system and all $ into performance will by far increase performace up to level of many upper class 'stock' cars. That's my opinion, but I do wish I have the $ to play around with. It'll be great to build an accord up to the level of turbo charged supras, but to me it's just not practical. Looks and good audio satisfies my accord. I love my accord, yet speed and performance is not my main interest for my accrod ex 2001. Yeah, it's not v6, so not much I can do with the performance anyway. I give my respect to those who have built an awesome-performace accords out there in HT. Must've taken hard work and dedication.

I disagree
The car I own cost twelve thousand when it was purchased, with less than a grand in the engine and a grand in suspension, I was right with more than one "real sports car" at the speedtrials event in december. Also in autoX I have had three top two places out of six races by sts class. The accord is a very capable car and only needs someone to drive it. I drive the car every day and love it.

i totally disagree also. In a real race series an Accord would not compete with TT supras and other high horsepower cars due to classing and rules. there was actually an Accord that ran in Speedvisions Grand Touring Class. i watched a CRX beat up on TT supras, ZO6 corvettes, 911 Turbo porsches, etc. explain that..............

My apology for my lack of experience and negligence... if you have a brother who drives WRX, it's easy to get discouraged and give up on performances. like me. WRX so ugly though.
