Odometer Stopped at 200000
I just noticed my odometer stopped as it turned 200000 kms. The tripmeter has stopped as well but the speedometer and tachometer are fine. No flashing lights. Any ideas?

Well, usually that means that there is bad wiring or a sensor is bad. You are lucky that just those two stopped and nothing else in the gauge cluster. If you feel up to it, take out the cluster and check your wiring. Or, take it to the dealership. They should be able to diagnose it no problem.

I'll look into that. And strange don't yuou think that it was just as the 9s were all turning to 0s from 199999 to 200000. That can't be a coincidence. I'm thinking the 1 was in place for so long that when it came time to turn it jammed?
Also, are these gauges at all affected by vacuum? I ask because I just the other day removed, teed into and replaced a vacuum hose off of the intake manifold.

OK, what you have is a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) on the Transmission itself that could be doing this. The light would be blinking or stay on on the dash. However, since it stopped at exactly 200,000 it tells me that it is inside the actual cluster. How long have you owned this car? It may have been tampered with at one time and now that the numbers are ready to roll over to start in the 200's it is now locked up. I have seen this before with the 90 - 93 models of accords. If you need another cluster let me know. I have a few that would work for you.

Know of any good textual or graphic images that describe how to remove and thereby inspect the cluster? Does the whole dash have to come off? Who knows maybe it just needs a good tap. What would I be looking at for cost including shipment to Alberta if I find I need a replacement?

I would need to know if it was a Standard or Automatic, 2 or 4 door car. I would charge you $25 plus whatever it costs for shipping. The odometer bezel needs to come off of the car, very difficult to do BTW. You have to remove the entire center consule and then find many small screws hidden behind the components on the bezel. Then you can remove the cluster. Taking apart the cluster is even more difficult. Try hitting the top of the dash while driving and see if it free's it up. I really think you have a problem with the numbers sticking in the cluster since it stopped at 200 K.

A couple of whacks to the dash and some flicking of the tripmeter button got 'er running again. Thanks for all the input. This is really an invaluable site.
