Default NUT IN BLOCK REMOVAL

well, i was installing my energy inserts on the front mount and my friend cranked up the power on my impact wrench while i was hammering the insert into the front motor mount ( gun was at 2.2 and he turned it to what seems like 4 ) I went ahead and gunned the bottom bolt and the left bolt holding the mount bracket onto the block. as i went for the right bolt....disaster, the bolt broke flush with block. AT 500 FOOTPOUNDS !!!! how am i going to get this out of the block ?

Probably drill it out, then tap a new thread, and install a thread insert.

Try a google search under "thread insert".

Or you can also try this:

But, I kind of doubt it, since the bolt was torqued in pretty high.

i know. Ive used a tap before to get these out, and even a bolt remover for those week sauce valve cover bolts...but this is a much larger bolt made out of different steal and its in there. My only concern with drilling the bolt out is depth. the angle at which the block sits makes drilling a perfectly straight hole hard without a jig of some sort.

BTW, is that the BORG ship ?

True, some machine shops use jigs to drill straight and for correct depth.

Yes, that is a Borg ship.

Here is a link to some tips on removing a broken bolt:

http://www.asashop.org/autoinc...h.cfm

An important tip is to center punch the bolt first.

Although your bolt is at a different location & not the same bolt, here is another link, where they are using a "drill block" to hold the drill perpendicular:

The Borg are an elite society with outstanding technology. The Borg opperate around a central persona ( the borg are more machine than human ) The borg's qween..so to speak has control over the entire society....which consist of millions. To become one.....humans are assimilated.

You basicaly tap a started whole in the broken bolt, drill it just a tad and then use the reverse bit and it unscrews the bolt out.
