Default Is this normal?

When I drive in cold weather like 30-40 degrees, my temp needle is like 2 clicks under the middle line when i drive normally. when i floor it, my temp needles drops 2 more clicks and stays like this until i have driven normal for a while. im thinking that since i have an intake, its sucking in real cold air and coolling down the water temp for some reason.

what do u think?

You must have some real cold air being sucked in for that to happen. But if its not the intake, you have a sensor problem. But whats the big deal? Nothing bad is happening, let it go.

Running an engine hard when it is too cold is just as bad as running it hard when it is too hot. You should play it safe and have someone see if you need your thermostat replaced.

no you dont understand. it happens when the car is fully warmed up and ive been driving for like 10-15 minutes, also letting it idle 5 minutes to warm up before i move. im just saying, that since i have an intake, it probably sucks in MUCH colder air and brings my water temp a little lower. btw, i felt a more stronger pull when this happened. it only happens when i get near 4-5k rpm. get it now?

Colder intake air will not cool your motor enough where you would have a noticeable pressure change. The air still heats to the same temp after combustion.

It is possible that it is cold air causing this, but more than likely, it is the cold air over that radiator, not in the intake.

Ok, well if it makes you feel any better, my car does almost the same thing, but it is stock. I can be driving around all night, get the temp. gauge about 2-3 clicks from the middle marker (which is normal in my car), but if I start driving slower at an average speed and shifting at 3,000rpm (i'm a fairly fast driver and I usually shift around 4k) the engine will drop DRASTICALLY(!) down to the lower markers and stay there until I start driving hard again. I mean, it gets to the point where the heater isn't even blowing out any heat anymore. Could be a problem with Accords? or a certain make? I dunno.
