Money Money Money
Ok so I just turned 18 and i dont have a ton of cash and im still waiting to modify my car with header exhaust and some nice 5 spoke 17in wheels. Usually my dad pays for all regular maitenance on the car. However, i owe him cell phone money and he said I dont have to pay it, but he just wont repair the car if something breaks for the rest of the year. Or i can pay him 400 dollars and he will fix anything that goes wrong on just regular maintenance , not if i like turbo the car and blow the engine. Heres the thing I just had my 90 grand tune up all new honda belts and new fluids , spark plugs... everything. Also 6 months ago I had a new clutch put in. Also, the transmission is great. So do you think the car can make it till december without any huge maintenance bills or not. All your advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.

as long as you treat it well and drive it conservatively (while winding it out every once and a while, of course ) you SHOULD have no problems. however, remember that **** happens and you have to be ready for that

all sorts of **** can happen from hitting a curb doing damage to the underside of your car all the way up to something just going Pop!
i remember with my first accord, i had it lowered, and the car went through a dip and it dented my oil pan which eventually turned into a hole that got bigger and bigger, so anything can happen...
Cars arent an exact science and neither are the pieces they are made up of, so you have to take into consideration that 400 bucks, although its a lot of money for you, why not just pay your bill that you accrued, that way your dad, just in case anything ever happens, will fix your car for you...and, being that it is your phone bill, why not pay it yourself instead of dumping the task on someone else...?
good luck with that either way...

Re: (Confuc1ous)
anything can go wrong with the car. Some cars are reliable, some aren't. I have an old 89 integra that has 250k miles, in the last 90k miles all I've done is oil changes, brake pads and used tires, while my friend has a 98 integra which needs a new engine and tranny. I would say just chance it and dont pay him, but I have good luck with stuff like that......

Hmm I don't see the reason for you needing to know if it'll last until December. Are you getting a new car by then or something or are you changing the engine?

Whether your car will make it can go either way, no problems or problems. Just take care of the car, change the oil when it's time, rotate tires, keep alignment proper, and you'll have a better chance of getting to December ok. I have a 95 Accord EX 113k miles, original owner. It went thru years 1-8 with only regular maintenance. Then a series of problems, master brake cylinder went bad, radiator sprang (sprung) a leak, power steering pump bad, battery bad, all within a period of one year. I maintained my car very well, always took it to the dealer for scheduled service, etc. I knew things would start to happen after awhile and didn't mind having the repairs done. I plan on keeping the car for many years. Just started doing modifications to improve the car so it'll run hopefully good for awhile.
