Mode Control Switch - 94 Accord Coupe
Everytrhing works beautifully on this car except I cannot get the air to change directions when you push the selector buttons on the dash. Any ideas on what causes the air to always flow from the top vents and not the defroster (when selected) or the floor (when selected). It is turning colder and I need to fix my daughters air flow directions before her windshield fogs up. Thanks for any input.

Re: Mode Control Switch - 94 Accord Coupe (rhughes)
In GM cars, the A/C / Heater mode changes are driven by vacume. In Honda's it's done electrically. Electrical signals from the control head actuvate servo motors, which operate blend, temp and mode doors within the heater and evaporator cases, behind the glove box.
Simplest thing, check all the fuses
and get back to us....

Q? Has the dashboard ever been apart?

Re: Mode Control Switch - 94 Accord Coupe (P_Adams)
Thanks. Dash has never been apart and all the lights on the control buttons are lit. Just acts like the damper is not moving to redirect air. ALways blows straight to the passnegers and not on the floor or the defrost area. Can oyu tell me what controla the air direction?

Number #7 (in the illustration) is the culprit which takes commands from the control head on the dashboard.

The trick will be to determine if the Control head is screwy, the Actuator Motor is defunct, the door which the Actuator motor works isn't bonkered up or you're suffering from a loose wiring connector.
Hope this helps towards your quest towards enlightenment
