Friggin Frances and her rain has landed in nyc and this morning my CAI w/ By-pass took in the helm.
I felt and heard the car sputter on the highway, so i couldn't immediately turn the car off so i had to drive until i got to a good spot...turn the car off then decided i need to get off the highway to save my car from being rear-ended.
Well as soon as i came around the corner....DEAD...car died out. Tried to start once then left it be.
My question is, am i done motor wise, or can it be revived?

ouch. sorry to hear. me and a friend are tearing down his motor because he did the same thing because of that hurricane. has a hole in the block about 3 inches long and an inch wide. it's pretty crazy.
its probably not going to be rebuildable in your case. inspect the block really well. theres going to be a lot of gunk and buildup in the motor so it's gonna be gross.

i just been through ur situation!
pull ur plugs, crank all the water out. if u were at a high rpm when u hydro locked, more then likely ur fugged. i was at idle when my baby sucked up water. if u still can crank it and it turns smoothly, u should be alright. add some engine flush and then do a oil change. a couple days later i did a dyno run :D my engine just had to clear the water out. messed up my wideband kinda sorta but my engine is alive.
just cuz u sucked water up doesn't mean ur stuck like chuck. my engine sees 10.8psi of boost every day still and its been like 3 weeks since.

Hopefully that's the case when i pull the plugs out.
I was at very low rpm's because i knew my CAI was right there waiting to suck that water up, so i kept it very low rpm and as soon as i heard the sputter i got off the throttle and into nuetral.

latest update....
Pulled the plugs and cyl 2-3-4 were filled with oil. cyl one had a mist of water.
Then took air intake off and drained excess water. Turned crank with ratchet and it turned fairly easy.
So i decided to crank it and nothing...just sounds like the car has no compression at all...weird.
I figured that it wasn't turning or starter could have been shot, but starter turns engine and nothing happened.
Any ideas..help!!!!

did you crank the enige by trying to start it with the plugs out? pull ur injector clips off or pull ur fuel pump fuse out. crank it till theres no water flying out. u wont get the water out by turning it by hand. when u see its preety dry, put back the plugs back in and try starting it. if the engine turn then it aint ur starter.
then u go back to basics, FUEL, SPARK, AIR
make sure it's getting all three. she should start. only when one is taken out will ur engine not start. if it doesn't start, check and make sure ur plugs aren't too wet or fouled out. ur getting air no doubt, and no reason why fuel would just stop flowing.

i cranked the engine after i removed all plugs and then turning the ignition. At first crank it literally cranked..then i did see some mist shoot out of cyl 1.
the car just sounds absolutely like it's lacking compression.
I will try to do the injectors and fuse as stated today along with a comp check to see what is happening.
To me it seems like the motor is good but the head may be fuqed somehow like maybe a bent valve or something to the sort...i'm just hoping it isn't hydr-locked

comp check accross the cyl = 50:40:30:50
No compression at all..thought that the timing belt may have jumped a teeth or two..not at all, ended up pulling the head off and there's lke sand on top of each piston..yes SAND.
I guess that was from the water seeping in and corroding (spelling).
Either way, i still believe the motor may be good so i will take the head to the machine shop and get the valves re-seated and cleaned up and re-install to see what happens.

Hydrolocking won't generally bend valves. It bends rods and other related parts. Compression like that suggests you have bottom end problems. You could check comparative piston heights...
Keep us posted and good luck.

you sure that's sand? I'd be curious to know if that's real fine aluminum. Either way sounds like mother nature did something fierce to that engine. I'm bumbed for you man if its any consolation. I hate **** like that...its one thing if you screw something up racing or tearing the **** out of it, another if you're just cruising.
Yea like was mentioned, the head 'ususally' doesn't get damaged in a hydrolock, it's the rods that either bend or snap (which often times punches a nice big hole in the block). I'm doing a motor swap in a 7000 mile '04 Sable at work right now that sucked in some water and hydrolocked. Checking the comparative piston heights, in one cylinder the piston at TDC was about 1/8 inch below the surface of the block, while all the other 5 were even like they should be, so bent rod. It still ran, but made some pretty weird noises, lol
Check your motor over good though and make sure it's not shavings of a grenaded motor you're seeing in there. Be sure and also check the cylinder walls for any kind of scoring. Kinda sounds like it may be fu**ed

this is my motor after a hydrolock https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=877178 i doubt you bent any rods since it turns over. my motor didnt even budge.

Wow, i really don't want that to be the images that i see at all.
I didn't get to do any more work on it yet. But i def think what 89_lxi says may be right about the rod being bent. I have no "hole in block" at all but i will measure the pistons on the top to see if they match up and i might check for leaks in the head.
