Hit curb at 30mph, messed up right suspension. any idea what?
I guess this is a little preventative to make sure I don't get screwed by the mechanic. I hit the curb on my front right wheel pretty bad. Nothing snapped and I could drive acceptably at low MPH, but my tire rubs up against the rear end of my wheel well. So much so that when I was driving it to get to a mechanics, part of the tread was torn off.
Any ideas what was bent? It isn't that horribly out of place, just pushed back so the tire hits the wheel well.

Lower Control arm deffinetly,
Happend to someone that brought it into my work, We had to replace the lower control arm, and the steering wheel would still whip to the left, so we had to losen the sub frame bolts in the front and shift it for it to be aligned correctly

My sister did the same exact thing except at 20mph...we immediately changed out the lower control arm. however, she also damaged the cross member which was surprising...cause she only hit it at 20mph...they tried stretching it...but still couldnt align the wheels...the mechanics also changed the steering knockle...yea...this crash she got really tore things up...
yeah, not sure what. My neighbor said it was probably the control arm to. I hit it pretty hard but it didn't seem to terrible when it came to driveability. I'll post when I find out just so you guys know for future reference.
well, more than I expected but a lot of the right front components got messed up. Also a boot was already messed up before the accident which may have made one of the ball joints weak. At least I hit the side that was already a little messed up, haH! I don't remember the exact list but it will be around 700$
. I even bent the stock rims.. woo. Only if that freaking car wasn't coming in the opposite direction I wouldn't have plowed the curb.
I'm pretty sure I didn't bend the frame though.

all these parts arent expensive if you shop around at local junk yards...since most of these parts are very durable (unless you smash and bend them) as long as there's a car like yours with only rear damage at the junk yard...I bet you can find and use the front suspension setting for a cheap and affordable price...somewhere around 400-500 is about right i think...for used parts
The guy is doing it for around 700$, which seems reasonable. I don't have the time to go hunting so I can't complain. I know there are a lot of 5th gens at the junkyard but like I said, I need my car fixed.

When I drive anywhere and turn, I get a slight click from the steering column, from either direction I turn the wheel, and this is when I'm moving and not moving, so I'm sure it isn't an axle rod. It isn't really a noise click, just a physical, I can feel in the column.
So, my tire isn't that damaged, and I know I'm going to get a new one, but part of the tread is torn off and isn't that deep.
Once I get to around 60mph there is a slight shake in the car itself, but not the steering wheel. I haven't gotten it realigned yet and the tire is still torn, so would those cause the shake issue?
For the most part, since the car is operable, I can probably go to the junkyard, get the parts and fix the **** on my own.

only if what you said was useful..
anyone else that can say something helpful aside from bumping my post up?

the click could be something else in the suspension
Did it just start after you smaked the curb?
the allignment and torn tire can cause your shake problem...most likely need to replace BOTH front tires if there is a good amt of wear on them

yeah, I think I'll jack the car up and give it a good look. I just need to purchase the jacks, which I planned on doing anyway.
As for the tires, I'm sure the one is fine. Only one hit the curb. They are almost new tires with about 5000 miles on them so, no worries.
The clicking did start after the curb thing, and it seems as though the steering is a little stiffer, instead of glidding.
I really thing the alignment once it's done will help with many things, we shall see.

So I got the tie rod fixed which was the issue with the shaking on the highway, and also got an alignment, which was pretty friggin ugly.
I don't think this is a major issue but I still have the clicking in the steering column?
anyone have any idea what it is? it is any direction. It's not really a noise but more of a physical clicking, so it's not an axle.

Physical clicking... could be the ball bearings inside your CV Shafts, Hmm well there also could be Balljoint when your tires hits bumps? Thats about my idea for the clicking, i know u said its not the axel.. by axle do u mean CV Shafts? becuase the i still might be thinking about the ball bearings inside of them... Or maybe something got knocked loose in the steering assembly....idk, best of luck
yeah something in the steering I think. It happens when I'm moving and sitting still without the car on. When I say axle I mean CV Axle. Cause when the CV axle goes out your car makes a clicking sound when you turn your car right or left while driving.
Feel, and slighly hear, very slight since any physical click usually results in a sound. It sounds nothing like a CV axle, much quieter. Even the noise from air on 2 covers up the click sound from this problen. It's mainly in the steering column when I turn. I don't feel like it's coming from a left or right side but it's hard to tell.
that might be it. But would it do it no matter what direction I turn it? and how far? cause it clicks when the wheels are right and left. Maybe a chip in the pinion? or what that be pretty fatal?
Functionality seems fine..
I haven't had a chance to get under the car and look for physical contact though.
