Default Help. Overheating..

hey everyone. i have a 93 accord ex with a 5 speed manual. i've got problem though. i am constantly putting coolant in my motor and it is still overheating after about ten minutes of driving. and my coolant is disappearing but i have no leaks. my guess is that it is the water pump. can anyone help me? thanks.

also, when the motor started to get hot, it started jumping while accelerating, like it was missing...

Ok, in emergency, you might want to do this. Put the heat on its highest setting. Then turn the fan on high and make sure the air isnt on recirculate, make sure its on fresh air. If the temperature starts going up, that should bring the needle down a bit. That is a temporary fix while driving. If your water pump is shot, you want to make sure you get that changed ASAP.

Start from easier way.

It is possible a thermostat problem. Also check if the radiator fan is working.

i have done the turn on the heat method. i did that for about 10 miles because i had to make it home. also, a new thermostat was put in thursday and its still doing it. although i did let my friend do it while i wasnt there and all he knows about is V8 motors. he might have messed up somehow.

could it be my head gasket?

You're sure you have no leaks?

Could be multiple things.

1) Hidden leak you can't see
2) Wrong coolant (are you using Honda premixed?)
3) Water pump is a possibility
4) Thermostat is a possibility
6) Headgasket is a possibliity

When did you last get the car serviced?

the car hasnt been serviced since i got it. i got it in february and it has been giving me problems ever since. right after i bought it the transmission locked up, then i fixed that i had leaks all over. all new gaskets on the head (valve cover, intake mani, etc.)except the head gasket itself. and then went to lower it and snapped a bolt off in my strut mount. now that i fixed that i have this problem.

oh and i am just using regular prestone 50/50 coolant.

check your oil.....the antifreeze could be mixing into the oil in which case its your head gasket......the oil will have milky tone to it
