My engine was idling strange up and down, would not idle correctly at all. I unpluged the map sensor and the engine ran worst. Then pluged it back in and now it would even idle. My assumption would be a bad sensor.

2nd issue I believe my starter is going bad. I have a H22a auto, I have a spare F22 auto starter, will the f22 one work?

Try adjusting your FITV first. It happened on my F & H motors. I went and adjusted the FITV and cured the irratic idle problem on both.

I'm not sure if the Auto F starter will fit the H auto trans but I do know that an F 5spd starter will fit an H 5spd trans cause thats what I did on my F20B DOHC VTEC LSD trans(T2T4).

1. Check your coolant level ensure the system has been properly bled & there are no air bubbles.
2. Look for a vacuum leak. Check the throttle body gasket, upper plenum gasket, IACV gasket, intake manifold gasket and all of the hoses and caps.
3. Ensure that you don't have the TPS & MAP sensor connections reversed.
4. Clean out the IACV
5. Adjust the FITV, This valve being out of adjustment can be the problem. If the symptoms occur/proceed after the car has warmed up.

Not 100% sure about the starters...... If you have them both there why not compare the two and see if the the mounting brackets are the same. Also check to make sure that the starter gear assemblies are the same and that they extend the same amount.

My FITV isn't even hooked up, my fault, I'll clean it and hook it up. Then I'll check the TPS voltage as the throttle goes up and do a vac. test on the MAP at the ECU connector in car.

If your FITV isn't hooked up that's fine. I ran my Accord for two years in the Northern winters without it. Just doesn't warm up as fast, nothing that your foot on the gas doesn't cure quick enough.
