sounds like your synchros might be shot, either way the only thing you can really do is take the tranny apart

might want to try putting syncromesh in the tranny before taking it apart. Your tranny only takes 2 quarts so just drain it and put to quarts of gm syncromesh in, then drive it around for awhile to let it work in and it should go away, you can get it from the gm dealership.

Try doing a tranny fluid change. Sometimes helps with that kind of thing.

Mine's doing the same damn thing. I just got in the habit of double clutching before engaging 5th. Works most of the time.

Gm synchromesh? If its the same thing as pennzoil i dont know if you want to be putting this into your car, because it is specifically engineered for GM and chrysler cars with manual transmissions. Dont get me wrong, i believe that its worked wonders, if i put it in my accord will it do the same?

I like many other have had this happen. But, for some odd reason mine just went away. Start shifting to 5th extremely slow until you can come up with some cash for a rebuild.

Gm syncromesh works for honda's, lots of people use it, do a search on it. I've used it, and i have alot of friends that have used it with no problems and it works. I mean if the tranny is totally gone it wont work but if u just have grinds going into any gear it works. Here's a link to do some research https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=449756

If thats the case im gonna find out what the progress on my car is today and then hit autozone and pick the stuff up...my question is this, where do i drain the manual transmission fluid, and then how much, or how many quarts does it take?

it takes 2 quarts to fill , and the tranny drain plug is on the pass side facing towards the wheel, if u look at the tranny from under the car you'll see 2 plugs one higher then the other , the lower one is drain and the higher one is fill.

You don't just add Syncromesh...you need to replace all the fluid with syncromesh. I had a grinding 3rd and 5th on my H22 tranny and it all went away. Takes about 300 miles to work.

Pennzoil Syncromesh is the exact same stuff as GM at half the price.

syncromesh is tranny fluid used in GM trannies. GM syncromesh from GM is 11 a quart. Penzoil syncromesh is 4.99 a quart and can be found at some autozones. Its the same stuff only in different bottles.
