Well on the B1 the coil is in the dizzy itself, on the B2 there is a coil (black box, the size of a cigarette box) outside sitting next to the dizzy and there is a cable between them. And yes the B2 head is better flowing for turbo applications.

you should get a b1 head and get it on . running frankenstien blocks is weird ... and idk if they are much good then later get your engine good and boosted, or swap in a h22a engine

yea i have the f22b2 its weaker than the f22b1 and as u know b1 has vtec

f22b1:
Max power: 145 hp (108 kW) @ 5500 rpm
Max torque: 147 ft·lbf (199 N m) @ 4500 rpm
f22b2:
Max power: 130 hp (97 kW) @ 5300 rpm
Max torque: 139 ft·lbf (188 N m) @ 4200 rpm

i wish i had the b1 :/

BTW: all this b1 b2 talk made me think .... i looked at my block and it only says F22b on it .... my last engine ik it said f22b2 i got a new engine swaped in a year or two back by a friend of a friend hah ... and all this diff heads on diff blocks talk made me wonder if im runing the prelude si f22b block ... with a f22b2 head?!?!

Could be, however, I doubt it. There are 3 variants of the JDM F22B. The Japanese blocks do not use the 6 digit engine codes.

JDM SOHC Non VTEC F22B = USDM F22B2
JDM SOHC VTEC F22B = USDM F22B1
JDM DOHC Non VTEC F22B = No identical USDM (similar to the H23)

you probably have a Non VTEC SOHC JDM F22B.

More than likely.

The USDM Prelude Si is powered by a DOHC non VTEC H23A1. The Only USDM SOHC Prelude with an F series was the Prelude S. It was powered by the Non VTEC F22A1. The H23 and F22 have very similar block design. They share a lot of internal components as well.

All USDM Honda and Acura blocks use a 6 digit engine code, H22A1, H23A1, F22B2, F22A6, B18C1, D15Y7 etc etc.....

yea i know that but all those ppl who do those frankenstien blocks ... is beyond me .. plus you never know what you get from other ppl until you really look at it ... i guess i am just wishing it was the prelude 1 so i can put the prelude dohc head on it to .. rather have the prelude than the accord but if not at least a prelude engine swap .and just to put my mind at ease the slight chance this noob mechanic which ill tell you he really was.... how would ik if it is the prelude block or not??

You definitely have a JDM engine but there is no way to tell which head your block had originally.

Dude I seriously have no idea, I just picked up a F22B2 for a little project build with 150k for $120 bucks. I am guessing that the head would be about $80-$100, you can get an H22 (much more desirable amongst tuners) for about $250-$300.

I don't really understand the confusion. You have a f22b1 block which only comes on the USDM vtec engines. However, the head is obviously from something else.

There should be a casting number on the head which will indicate what it's from.

Well she's definitely a SOHC and more than likely an F series so.......

P0B = F22B2
PT3 = F22A1-6

Based on the picture that you posted I'd say it's a B2

WEIRD.... Did you buy the car like taht or did someone you know swap the head?? That is defiantly a Vtec block with a non-vtec head. Due to someone swapping the heads.
