I have a f22b1, at least i thought thats what it was when i bought it. On the engine block it says f22b and thats it, but i know the motor is vtec. anyone want to help me out. i believe the motor is japanese because i bought it from a japanese importer. what motor is this???

F22B is a twin cam. Is yours that way?

f22b1 is a sohc vtec, f22b2 is the sohc non-vtec. If your vin number starts with a "J" then it is japanese manufactured, otherwise it will probably say "1" in the begging. This will tell you which you motor is....jdm, or usdm.

 

mine is sohc. do u think the place swapped the bottom end from a dohc?

im still confused as to why it only says f22b if i have sohc vtec which is f22b1. can anyone shed some light on this

 

well, for example, jdm h22a's just say "h22a" rather than h22a1 or h22a4, all of the jap f22 motors i have seen have been the same way - no trailing number.
