so i dnt really make that much money, should i fix my stock D16? maybe a turbo. or should i save and get a DOHC? Also i dnt see to many built SOHC, so can u post pics so i can se how they look built, thanx.

Do you realize that building a motor does not necessarily change it's outward appearance? Or when you say "build" do you mean "adding a whale *****"?

Built on HT usually refers to upgrading engine internals. Hence the photos you are requesting of "built " SOHC's would look the same as their unbuilt counterparts. Not flaming you, just thought it would be advantageous for you to be aware of this.

for single cam parts, just look up good-named parts brands like golden eagle, comp, skunk2, bisimoto, exospeed, HKS, etc etc.

do lots of googling too

the wikiliers or whatever is called.!!! says this..

A few D-series variants are labelled "ZC" (usually JDM), but they are not truly a different series.

There are both SOHC and DOHC ZC engines.

The non-VTEC SOHC ZC is similar to the D15Z4 and D16A6 engine, but with more aggressive cam timing.

The VTEC SOHC ZC is identical to the D16Z6, and the DOHC ZC is similar to the D16A1, D16A3, D16A8, D16A9 and D16Z5 engines.

Euro Mk1 (85-87) 1.6 CRX's are fitted with an engine designated "ZC1" which is a higher spec 130 bhp version of the D16a1.

The JDM Browntop ZC from the 84-87 Civic CR-X and Integra made 135hp from the factory.


ok is very clear... some D series like d15z4 and d16a6 are sohc but non vtec... thats is clear right??
but.....teh vtech sohc ZC or same as D16Z6 are sohc vtec ... (not dohc) that's also clear,,,
but read what it says.....DOHC ZC is similar to the D16A1, D16A3, D16A8, D16A9 and D16Z5 engines. witch i know these dohc are non vtec...

so that means that not all D series Dohc are vtec.. so that also mean that i rather keep my D16Z6 VTEC than any of those DOHC..
but for you info the D16Z6 is the best engine ever built out of any the D series..
and by the way .. i never believe on this wikiliers ... they never have the right info.. . keep your ZC Vtec and if you want rebuilt it and do a mod on it.. it'll last long and less troubly..easy to fix, gas saver and with your mod your gonna have great power on it..
better look for a good mechanic that knows about honda engines and power.. to help you out.. i know what i"m talking about.. !!

I would build the d series and boost it. That car would be pretty nasty with built motor and some boost. Thats what I would do and it would prolly be cheaper.
