If your getting a chipped P28 that is the EMS (Engine Management System) If your looking for what software/ROM editor to use that is entirely up to who is going to be tuning your car. You will need to know what software they use for tuning. As for the best features for your chipped P28 base map. I would suggest that you have it configured for a stock H22. Then take your car to a tuner and have the "features" set up properly.
ZIF = Zero Insertion Force, It makes taking the chip out easier so you are less likely to break a pin. The DIP socket is the part that is soldered directly onto the board. It is a bit harder to pull and place chips from it on a frequent basis. Your are more likely to bend and break pins if you only use a DIP socket.

Re: ecu features
Ive actually been exploring sites to get the same thing, for me its a matter of i/h/e, underdrive and accessory pulley. I am going to get my VTEC engagement point set at 4800 rpms, have the speed governor removed and have the RPM taken up to 7600 from the stock 7200 level.
