Drivetrain question
What is "drive-line slack"? Is this common with Honda's with over 100k miles? Do you try and fix it or just let it go? Are CV joints to blame? All comments appreciated.
Driveline slack is a general term to describe what normally occurs with mileage. It simply means that components fit a bit looser together with age.
Now of course slack will be present with 100 k. But it is not really harmful per say...
The only way to eliminate the natural occurance is to park the car on stands and not drive it... Totally normal and part of life...

What components of the car exactly contribute to driveline slack? I had a Honda foreman ride in my car yesterday to listen to the problem i am having. He said i have "driveline slack". Sometimes i hear/feel slight clunk when the transmission is going from first to second gear at VERY slow speeds (crawl speeds). But, if i accelerate quickly from a standpoint my car shifts perfectly without it clunking from first to second. Also, sometimes i hear a click noise when coming to a stop. Could the driveline slack be in the CV joints? They seem to operate perfectly, but have 118k miles on them. Is this the initial stages of needing to buy new CV joint axles?
What the honda foreman told you was that your front end is getting loose. At 118000km, it is normal....

The list can be quite extensive. From suspension parts to steering parts... Alot of components. And it can become quite expensive to change all the parts involved. Now if you are concerned about something, i suggest you take it to a shop that you trust in order to diagnos this.

Now CV joints, when going bad, usually click when you turn a corner... If you drive backwards in a circle, the sound usually gets louder. It really does not manifest itself in straight lines.. I would not worry about them.

The Honda foreman told me to let it go. He says it's normal to have this clunking noise at low speeds especially at 118k miles. He even went on to say that he has seen this in brand new cars. Should i trust him or is there somthing else going wrong? This clunking noise and click noise while coming to a stop has been present in my car for about 10k miles. What is your opinion. Thanks.

I can't say anything about the noise, because i don't have access to your car, but in my opinion, a clunking noise, at low speed is nothing to worry about for now...
Let it be...
