Default Code 6, on a 90 LX

Code 6 = Coolant Temperature : Check the coolant temperature sensor and circuit
now, do i need to actually check it or just add coolant?
cuz i was reading the code 6 for a 97 accord and it just said to add coolant or check the coolant
should i check the temp sensor and circuit or add circuit and then c if i get the light again?
what happens with low coolant/none anyway?

If the coolant is low, top it off and bleed the air out of the system and see if the code comes back.
