my check engine light came on a few days ago

OBD II error code: P1259

The car won't really accelerate well at the mid-upper rpm range.......nor will it engage vtec.....

The same thing happened to me a few months ago when the car had gone about 4800 miles w/o an oil change.....after the oil change, the problem ceased to exist and has not existed until now.......

Now, it's been exactly 4000 miles......and it just started again....
I suspect that the bastards at the oil change place have been putting some crappy quaker state or some other type of crappy oil.......

Could the Vtec screen be blocked......or is it the vtec sensor?.......suggestions????

if you notice it to be an oil problem, then check that. you just told yourself what the problem was. my car burns oil like crazy and it did the same thing. it usually means you don't have much oil in it, if any for that matter.

i mean is that normal though.........to have really low oil after 4000 miles?.......just seems a lil strange........but you can make damn sure i change the oil next time......bump some jiffy lube

a bad pcv valve can cause this. Make sure it is good.

Damn.. i change my oil ATLEAST every 2000 miles.. If your car is buring a little oil here and there i wouldnt really worry about it to much. I know people who have put over 100K miles on a motor while it was buring oil.

Its probally your valve stem seals. There cheap but can run you a good amount to have them put in.

changed my oil today......the old oil was dirty as hell and pretty low........drained it out to the last drop and put some castrol gtx w/ maximum sludge protection.......

the engine' s not nearly as sluggish and vtec will engage now.......but the CEL is still on......i drove it about 15-20 miles......and it's still on......who knows......i'll take it to my uncle's this weekend and we'll open her up....

**** is just really annoying man

Reset the ECU & see if the CEL comes back. Then you'll know whether it's fixed...

Oil change intervals of 4k or 5k miles aren't real unusual. But I really hope you didn't go 4000 miles without LOOKING AT THE OIL...
