My a/c has stopped working for couple months, then i FINALLY TOOK TIKE TO CHECK what was wrong and found out all the wiring was burnt out.

Now the compressor or condenser fan would not turn on via the inside ****. But if I connect the compressor straight to the battery the a/c blows ICE cold, but now I can adjust the heat it just stays freezing. Can I hook the compressor to a switch or will that damage it? WhAT DO YOU THINK THE PROBLEM IS?
