A/C has recently been installed, rewired, recharged with new parts - drier, expansion valve, compressor, relays.

The fan and blowers work. The problem is the compressor acts up. Seems like its not getting enough electricity(?)

A/C is fine for about a minute after its turned on, then compressor and fan automatically shuts off. Sometimes it would come back on sometimes it wont.

*The rad fan runs simultaneously with the compressor fan. Sometimes the compressor would run as the engine reach its normal operating temp for when the fans come on.

Need advice on what may cause this problem.

EDIT: Found out that my newly installed sound setup is the culprit. Its seems to be robbing power from my a/c.

Will adding a relay for my sound system help?

is the ac blowing cold at all? the comp will shut off momentarily in interevals to allow proper cooling and not freeze the sys out. easy check is to see what the temp out of the center vent is at. then repost your readings....

 

Yes i do know the compressor shuts off once it reaches desired temp. But mine does not..

It only blows cold for aproximately 12secs - the time when the rad fan comes on to cool the engine. The condenser fan comes on too of course because that is its natural orientation.

What i need is for the compressor to engage when i switch on the AC and not only when the fans comes on.

do u have any gauges, if u do, hook them up and tell me your readings both low and high side as well as ambient temp when checked.

 

Ok i think i finally figured it out. The a/c is not getting enough electricity since i installed a new sound setup. I removed the wire from my sub going to the positive terminal of the battery and a/c seems to be working fine.

Now will adding a relay for my sub help solve the electrical shortage?
