Default Automatic Shifter

On Tuesday 7/25/02 my 1991 Accord SE decided to give me a hard time to take out of park. It will goe in to gear but is very stiff? It was not a gradual thing either. It started instantly! Does it just need to be lubricated? Thats what it feels like ? please help. Mike Richardson

A common problem with your car is stiff auto shifter cable. Mine is starting to give me problems too. It seems like if every once in awhile i just shift it to 1 or 2 it loosens it up. There is no way to lubricate the cable, only replacement. I think i priced it at about $100 for just the part.

have you tried to lubricate it with a cable lubricator, if not then you might want to try that. you can pick one up at a motorcycle shop in your area
