Default 94 Accord EX Timing Belt Replacement Questions

Yeah I already searched.

When replacing the balance shaft belt, the rear balance shaft(exhaust side) has a dimple on the face of the pulley, it also has a notch on the top of the pulley that seems to line up with a mark on the block.

Should I be using the mark on the block and notch as the TDC mark?

The dimple on the face seems to line up with nothing.
--

The TDC on the crankshaft pulley should be the white mark correct? at that point the cam pulley will also read TDC?

--

I got everything replaced tonight and started the car. it ran really rough so i'm assuming that i mis-aligned something. It's sad because I triple checked everything but I had problems getting the balance shaft to get in check.

If the balance shaft is off by a tooth the engine is going to run really rough?

--

any trick to read the cam sproket against the cylinder head? I can't seem to get the right angle to see it correctly. maybe i'll use a ruler or straight edge to try to line up that.

--

my mind is mushy now, so excuse any errors.

thanks for any help.

By running really rough, do you mean idling rough or vibrating/shaking rough? I'm not sure if one tooth would matter or not but did you put something in the service hole to hold the one balancer shaft in place and keep it aligned?

Try this link. Hondaq 2.2L Cam Timing & Balance Belt Removal and Replacement Look through it and double check what you did to this. It may help a little more than a normal repair manual since it has helpfull pictures showing the alignment marks and such.

Hope it helps.

Edit:
forgot to post the link, lol.

Here's a pic of my F23, not sure if it helps you, but I'm trying

The lines on the sprockets line up with lines/notches on the block. I marked everything with paint marker and was very careful not to move them.

I decided photos would be another way to remember..

Thanks for the input guys!

I'm gonna go try to line things up again. I now know about the rear balance shaft being 1:3 ratio thing, i think thats where i'm getting most of the vibration from.
