timing belt issue, can i do this?
i forgot to line up the gear on the crank to the line on the block when i put my motor together. i am thinking i can turn the crank, line up the pulley to that line. loosen the tensioner. slip the belt off the gears, turn the gears so the arrows are facing up, slip the belt back on, tighten tensioner.
would that work?

sounds like communism - great in theory or on paper, but shitty in real life.
Its not like your crank pulley is on all that tight anyway because you havn't driven it yet. In order to see the "marks" on the block/timing gear on the crank you need to take the pulley off anyway.

no there isn't
atleast on my OBD0 factory no p/s slot pulley
btw, i took the liberty of adding "its coming..." to MY signature

when I do a timing belt in a car that's what I do.
Throw the belt on the crank gear, throw on the lower cover, throw on pulley, line up crank pulley markings at TDC, and line up the cams and throw the belt on.
After this, I threw up a lot.....
