6th/7th gen Accord (4 cylinder and V6) chassis/engine mount/engine mount-bracket questions
Ill break this down in a number of questions.
1. Are the frame mounts (engine) the same on both the 6th gen 4 cylinder and V6 chassis'?
The reason Im asking, I wanted to know if the V6 can be swapped in by just switching the mount brackets from the 4 cylinder to the V6 brackets.
2. Are the 6th and 7th gen V6 chassis mounts different?
I wouldnt imagine so, seeing as they both have the J series 6 cylinder engine. I was considering a 04+ J30/6spd swap into a 6th gen chassis.
Please dont get on me about why I should just do a H swap, Im tired of seeing the same thing every where. I want to try something different, something along the lines of a built 3.5L V6/6spd set up.
Any answers to, or, help with the questions above is greatly appreciated.

Re: 6th/7th gen Accord (4 cylinder and V6) chassis/engine mount/engine mount-bracket questions (RIGH
i know for a fact that the frame rail mounts are different between the 4cyl and 6cyl. i'll do some more research in the coming days.. i see these cars all day long, so i'll see what i can dig up.
yea that setup would be sick. J35 odyssey block with new RL pistons and TL-S heads and cams. 11:1 compression and a SICK torque curve. in an accord coupe, it'd be insane.

Im wondering if it would be a major pain in the *** to do this? Or, if it would be something minumal, like just drilling out the spot welds on the frame mounts and fabbing up brackets/mounts to drop it in???
I figure of they have stuffed H22's in CRX's that this shouldnt be much harder than that. Let me know what you find out Mike. Thanks.

Getting the motor to fit isn't going to be the hard part. Relocating all the accesories and rewiring will be. Replumbing the A/C and power steering is going to be fun... Nearly everything under the hood of a V6 car is in different places than the I4.
It would be a hell of lot easier if you were already starting off with a V6 Accord.

Im not really worried about AC and PS. We have converted a power rack over to manual to use for this swap (if we go through with it). AC will be removed.
Wiring isnt too terrible. Just follow the 2 manuals and make the necessary changes. If you can follow directions and have experience with electrical youll be fine.
My main concern was and is fitting the motor in the car. If it can be dropped in with just a few simple brackets or mounts being fabricated than it shouldnt be too difficult all together.
The potential of the 3.0-3.5+ V6 and 6 spd trans in the 6th gen accord/5th gen prelude chassis is unreal. I just hope its something that can be swapped over with out getting too crazy.

Well, the engine bays themselves are identical between the I4 and the V6. I haven't confirmed it, but I've heard the subframe is different. You may want to look into and see if the part numbers are the same or not. I also believe that all of the mounts and brackets are different.
You might also want to talk to RedneckDave. He has swapped a 3.2 CL-S motor and 6-spd into his 6th gen V6 coupe. Based on his experiences, the wiring wasn't as simple as you may think. He may be able to shed some light on the wiring issues, but obviously not on the differences you'll have since you'd be starting off with a 4-cyl.

Im starting to think that locating the swap (eng, trans, etc) may actually be the most difficult task involved.
