Default Accord Engine Swap Question: 6th gen accord 4 cylinder manual to 6 cylinder?

I have a 6th gen Accord (2001 4 Cylinder 5 spd manual EX) and was browsing around and found that a 6 gen 6 cylinder accord was for sale on ebay for really cheap!

I was wondering if the 6 cylinder would fit into my chassis (plug and play) or if there would be modifications necessary? If mods are needed what would be necessary? I am guessing new motor mounts? Anyone know the chassis code for a 6th gen 6 cylinder sedan?

Thanks!

I don't know the answer to that, but other than the obvious 2 cylinder upgrade ie. hp, what would be the benefits of doing that? Would you be planning on supercharging it?Just curious...

i have heard that the engine bays for the 4 cyl and the 6 cyl were completely different... so without major modification, it wouldnt work

No way really. It won't fit, the engines are totally different. The V6's are wider for teh reason of the engine. If you look at a pic of a V6 it's basically crammed in there as it is...

AV6 tranny is really kinda shitty.........i wouldnt even think of touching it.........

while most people wanna get rid of that tranny, your looking to swap it in (along w/ engine)

for 6th gens, the engine bay is the same... however, everything is routed completely different between the V6 and the 4-cyl... a/c, power steering, brake lines... all the accessories (power steering pump, alternator, a/c) are on the other side of the bay... i think the subframe is different.... hell, even the battery is on the other side of the bay.

you would need a whole front clip basically to do the swap. not to mention the time and money involved isn't worth it, unless you really just like to make things hard for yourself.

Thanks for the replies folks, I was just browsing my options and wanted to see what possibilities are out there. I figured since the car was a 6th gen they seem to have the same chassis so throwing in a 6 cylinder and using the existing manual tranny would be nice... I thought the 6 cylinders had a manual option? But I might be mistaking it for the Acura line... anyhow thanks for the input.

6cylinder motor using 4cylinder tranny? wow, greatest idea ever but too bad it would work huh?

the engine bay is the same but all the accessories like alternater, ac, ps, cruise control will need to replace.

Don't see anyone is doing it and dont really think anyone will.

and a friendly reminder, my friend's 00av6 just blew his tranny 75K
