Default 2002 Accord VP - replace power steering fluid?

Hello all, I got a 2002 Accord VP a few years ago. It currently has about 146,000 mi. A few months ago, it started leaking power steering fluid (just a small leak), which got me wondering if/when the fluid should be replaced? I religiously change the engine oil, transmission fluid & brake fluid on a regular basis but never gave the power steering fluid much thought. The previous owner seemed pretty conscientious (in general), although I don't think he changed it. I couldn't find anything about this in the owner's manual either. Logically, it would make sense to replace it, but what say you? Thanks in advance!

No one has weighed in yet....too bad. I do not know either.

Try this man: Scotty.mechanic@gmail.com. He has youtube videos under "Scotty Kilmer" and he may know. He's a great mechanic that gives it straight.

My 2002 Accord has 181K miles and I have become very serious about upkeep. Oil has been changed every 3,000 miles since it was new, the original owner never bothering to read the manual on changing it every 7,500 miles and when I got it I just kept up the 3K interval. It's an automatic and I have been changing the tranny fluid every 60K miles but this summer I'll halve that to every 30K miles.

Scotty has videos on finding leaks, there may be a UV fluid you can add that will show leaks in UV light........you need to find that leak ASAP. Once you've found it, just change your fluid and start an interval from there. Whenever we buy things used, it's best to assume the worst and change all fluids/timing belts since we don't know how often those were done unless the guy kept good records.*

*My father drilled into me keeping a notebook in the car and writing down all maintenance (date, mileage, what it was). I have done that with every car I have ever had and when sold, that goes to the new owner. I have found selling a used car is a piece of cake once the potential buyer sees that notebook. Good luck and keep us advised by updating this thread.
