Re: 1998 F23A1 into 95 Accord EX Questions
I know this is an old post but i've actually done this swap, i had a F22B1 stock in my 95 Accord Ex, i put an F23A1 in it but had to take off everything that had OBD2 connectors and i swapped out intake, exhaust and other things that did or didnt have what mine had then i took all that i needed from my F22B1 and swapped it over and it ran fine, had to use my original distributor due to not having one on the F23A1 that i bought, you DO NOT have to do an ECU or harness swap, unless you want to but i didn't have to. feel free to ask me any questions about the swap, i'll help with whatever i can remember lol

This post was a lot of help for me. I just bought the f23a1 to swap into my 95 Accord and I'm wanting to keep it obd1 as well. My only concern is the sensor located near the dipstick... Does anything need to be done with it??

Re: 1998 F23A1 into 95 Accord EX Questions
I am planning a swap of an F23A1 into my 94 F22B1. It seems to me that all I need to do is use the distributor and intake/exhaust manifolds off my old motor and everything else should fit. I know the oil pump on the F23A1 has sensors, but can you simply leave them disconnected? I want to stay OBDI, use my ECU, and (for now) use my intake and controls just "as is". What about pulleys and belts? Are they the same? And mounting positions for the alternator, air conditioning, and power steering, are they the same? Also, my trans is auto. Any issues there? Doesn't seem like there should be, but you never know.

Where on the wiring harness to the ecu do the piggyback wires go from vtec solenoid?? Mine was a non vtec car to begin with but I've swapped the ecu to the f22b1 ecu. Not sure where to pin them at

Re: 1998 F23A1 into 95 Accord EX Questions
I'm going to swap a F23 VTEC with automatic transmission into my EG and I'll boost it after a while. Already have D16A9 with automatic transmission in the car. The engine harness is bad and I can't reuse it. A chipped P28 is in the way. So, I think I would modify the F23 harness and use it with its distributor, injectors, sensors, etc. No problem with that. The problem is the F23 automatic transmission, because it's controlled by the PCM. What modifications should I do to the transmission, wiring harness, ECU, etc, to drive the F23 auto transmission like my stock one?

got a question for you, I've just recently done a f22b1 swap to a f23a1 from a 2000 accord. Got it up and running probably ran for about 200 miles or so. Then out of no where it starts to die on us and not want to start. Replaced the following; starter, ignition switch, alternator, battery, main relay, installed a clutch start safety switch, and dizzy. We cannot for the life of us figure out why it will not turn over now. It will compression start but will not start on it's own. We are getting a clicking and vibrating from the abs pump system but that's it. No nothing. Can you help? Maybe point us in the right direction?
thanks!

You know all that for sure? I keep getting conflicting information on that. Especially where the accessories are considered. One person says it'll work....others say it won't. I don't have the block at my disposal at the moment. So, I don't know. Which is why I've been looking for someone that's done the swap, themselves.

i am in the process of putting a 99 f23a1 motor in a 95 Accord ex the distributor does line up. But you will need your obd1 fuel injectors and The intake manifold and connectors and hoses my swap is running with the f23 intake but f22b1 injectors and it started no problems but idled really rough and I forgot to plug in the crank shaft position sensor and it helped it a lot. It’s not impossible but it’s is a challenge

Re: 1998 F23A1 into 95 Accord EX Questions
i know the f23 should bolt in fine.. what i suspect you'd find the most trouble with is the wiring and so forth. the f23 has a non-adjustable distributor (among other things that are different), although i assume your original dist. would bolt in place fine. this would be something to look into.. you would have to make provisions for running an OBD2 motor in your OBD1 car.
depending on the deal you get, expense to put either motor in may be negligable. try to gather as much as you can on the wiring of each scenario for comparison. i think you'll find your answer there.
