It might look that way but you would be VERY surprised! Its chromemolly tube tig welded, the tabs have a 2in counter lap with ground 3/8 twice lapped tig weld, and the upper section is triangle'd to the third connection point so the upper stress is distributed to a 6in section instead of just the speaker tray. I agree without the third point it didn't half half its structural function. I have my stripped car on a 300# jig and two people could pic the car off the ground with it bolted in with no flex when the windows were out. But either way it goes behind the factory seat and is by no means any roll cage, would perform with any bolt in brace for rear you can find for a coupe.

i think if he would have painted it, i think it would still look unstable... its just weird to have a round bar then a flat piece connected to it... i dont know
thanks sergio... i'll keep my eye out for it..

Well here is the reasoning behind the madness. If you have a hatch you can have a x brace and run your interior. A coupe the options are strut bar, c pillar bar, and nothing in between. To run a strut to pillar x brace you have to cut your package tray and doesn't always leave any option for interior. The whole idea is tie side to side using factory bracing mounting holes and still have the option to run complete interior, there is no interference and you can even install the factory braces over the top of the brace for a less noticeable look. Its a truly bolt in brace option for interior cars. The tube being mounted to bottom of a flange gives proper seat clearance so it is hassle free.

Re: where the ej1 love at? post pics
Any of you ej1 owners know of anyone selling a d16y5 (hx) head? I am looking for one and can't seem to find one for a decent price to save my life.
If this weren't a CVT AUTO hx, I would just swap the whole engine, but the work and parts involved with an auto to manual swap on the CVT model is just not happening right now.
Thanks in advance for any leads guys.

You buy one and tell me on the structural integrity! lol jk but like i said it is very surprisingly strong, two ppl were able to pick my car and 300#frame jig off the ground with the brace through the windows. Didn't bend bars, tabs, or mounting points. And factory did stick a brace there for a reason, i'm just connecting the sections for a little extra tightness. Nothing more than a idea for a coupe special item
