i dont know if i used the right wording but when you were to use coilovers you lower the car and the shocks stay the same so they compress more and they bottom out more wich will destroy them internally so useing the top hats you get about 1-2 inch of extended shock travel so that will give them a longer life.

they explain it here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=469485

I do not have the extended top hats on right now. Josh raised it for me, for the winter, and the trip home. I am not sure how josh had them on. Right now they hit the hood. I am just using the stocks for now. When we get some warmer weather I am going to work on it.

I have a somewhat related question. Maybe it's a stupid one. Is it really that unsafe to cut your springs. Not that I would do it. I just know that back in the late 80's early 90's their wasn't very many cars that they made lowered springs for and everyone cut them. If they did make lowered springs they were very pricey. I never heard of any safety incidents. So I just wonder.

well, ordered a few things off of Ebay to get the project rolling again. overflow bottle, tps, ghetto intake.. once that all gets here i need plugs, oil, and an alt. belt. the biatch may start soon! oh yeah, and some fuel stabilizer for the quarter tank of gas still left in it. maybe i'll pick some of that stuff up today.
