IMO, when I put in all new balljoints, tie rod ends, a fresh rack, mugen rubber and poly in some places my car went from clankity clanks, to nothing loose, wobbly, crunch, noise etc.
I never redid the backend, mainly b/c that involves mostly mugen = more money than i have right now.
pair that up w/some good shocks/springs/sway bars you'll be nuts over how it rides.
8k/6k is all I need for now. I don't ride scraping the ground though, it'd be a waste of everything else i did susp. wise.

Pretty much same here. I remember when i did new inner and outer tie rods, full set of new balljoints, and steering rack end bushing my car felt soo solid. I even did wheel bearings at the same time but i dont believe they were in need of replacement.

Falling asleep at the wheel equals this....

No alcohol was involved in this crash. It was a shame because that CRX was one of the cleaner CRXs I've seen back in 1999-2001 (pic taken in early 2002). 90-91 Si model with full WW RS kit and painted a custom canary yellow (his own mix). Those are SSR wheels on there (I still have the centercaps from those wheels) and they were thrashed and could not be saved. Since the guy was a friend of ours, we stripped the aftermarket parts & motor from it so he could sell them. But since the car wasn't at our shop, we improvised with what we had laying around

My recent project of going back to stock body with JDM front.
I decided to ditch the body kit in favor of oem cleanliness. I have most of the parts needed for the conversion but I still need a few trim pieces. I may need to find a better front bumper too if the one I have cant be repaired. I carefully removed the side skirts and door caps so as not to warp any of the metal on the doors.
The last fix I did to the doors I screwed the panels on to help prevent cracking. Obviously it didnt work hence the reason for the removal.
Here's how they were screwed in-

I unscrewed the panels and then to make sure I didnt do to much damage to the rest of the paint I cut a line with a razor blade.

After some pulling and cursing the panels popped off without too much damage to the metal. I failed to locate all of the screws because I couldnt see where they were. I guess my body working skills are fairly good, lol!

My car looks so different now!

I decided to do some mock up fitting of the jdm front bumper and lights that I have to see what I need to order from honda. I'm amazed at how little reinforcement is used in the bumper support for the jdm piece. Looks like I will lose around 20lbs in the front alone. By going back to stock on the sides I will lose around 20 lbs each side since the fiberglass sides were so thick and heavy. All around I think I will have removed about 100lbs.

I love oem fitment!!

For those of you that wonder what is so different about the JDM vs US fronts you can see how off the hood is. It wont even close all of the way because the corners hit the headlights.

The one major problem I face is seeing if the front bumper can be repaired. If not I may have to use my other bumper that has the bottom grill cut out. We will see how good the bumper repair guys are at Dent Time.
ouch!

I am so busy lately with work so I dont know when I will finish this conversion but hopefully soon! Hopefully my hood will arrive in a week so I can start prepping it for paint along with the rest of the parts. I still need a rear bumper though!

on my old white hatch i replaced everything and it drove friggin ****. i did not have a rear swaybar for a long itme and noticed a huge difference when i installed the si one. it had a front bar the whole time though.
civicandy's car was a std. he did the same setup as i did (proven and cost effective) but did not have swaybars and rean stickier tires. his car felt like it hopped throught the turns because the tires had too much grip/spring rates were firm/chassis flex. it kinda scared me. installed some da sways on it...golden.
