throw out/release bearing. does it go away when you press the clutch pedal? </TD></TR></TABLE>
Well, i actually have the TO bearing noise also. Which does infact go away when the pedal is pressed. The slapping noise does persist a bit when the pedal is pressed. Any links to writeups or parts lists to replace it?

I have a spare brake booster/master cylinder laying in the garage if you want it. $30 shipped or so. It's got about 130k on it.

One issue though, i have this rattling sound at idle w/the car in neutral. It sounds like a heat sheild flapping around, so i removed it. Noise still persists. Sounds like it is coming from the clutch tranny area. Any one ever hear of anything like this?
</TD></TR></TABLE>
I had this happen on my CRX after the engine rebuild, I thought it was a heatshield too - turned out to be a loose o2 sensor, tightened it up and all was good in the world.

I cannot think of them...hmm, I do remember that there was a crx on one of those cop chase videos. They actually outran the cops for along time..haha. I had it on my DVR for awhile. if you hear the noise with the pedal out it's your input shaft bearing
if you hear the noise with the pedal in it's your throw out bearing.

That's not a Honda. It's the greatest Honda, and one of the best cars ever made. Seriously though, allot of people have been asking me what I would sell my HF for ever since I brought it back from Cali. Even more so lately now that gas prices have gone through the roof. I think I may make a for trade thread. The only trades I am interested in would be a Ferrari F40, in good running condition. I love having two CRXes. I've never daily driven a CRX, for more than a few weeks, until now. I just love these cars.

So i found the best way to get a engine block super clean, dupont telfon wheel cleaner and brass brush, works better than brake clean, simple green and even pure methylene chloride. Now if i can just get these guys to hire me in a a couple years life will be good

I daily drove one in college for a few years. It's amazing how much stuff you can get in them. The only thing that sucked was parking because I had 215 tires on it, and obviously no power steering

I was daily'ing my CRX for about two or so years until I got the CL and started working downtown.
At first when I did take it downtown, I was paying like $235 for parking at a good structure just so it wouldn't get messed with. That was really my only issue daily driving a CRX now - someone trying to steal it or just some dumb *** hitting it.
Other than that, I really enjoy driving it.

You are a true enthusiast then...because I HATE daily driving my bone-stock '88 dx. Gutless, totally unsafe, and not a very professional car when I'm wearing a shirt and tie every day. But I guess I can't complain since I choose to drive it every day...except for when I occassionally fire up the Tundra.

Just thought I'd share, I'm going to cross over the 300,000 mile mark in my 91 Civic tonight after work. I brought my camera to snap a quick video and pics. Currently at roughly 299,97X after lunch today.

You sound like me driving a '91 sedan every day all dressed up for work. I love it, though. It's cheap, decent on gas, looks fairly clean and it doesn't matter much if it gets dinged or scratched. I hate buying new cars and seeing new dings, scratches or hail damage.

Oh no mine is not bone stock anymore. It has a B2 MPFIed with y8 Mani, a cut up airbox, a header, and 2" exhaust. Plus a full Navi/DVD system, and a 56lb subwoofer. It is slow as hell, but I don't think anything else would be as suitable for me. It keeps me out of trouble. I've been putting some serious miles on it as of late, and it is doing great. I don't wear a suit to work so no worries there. Even if I did, I wouldn't care too much. If I did I would fix my a/c for it is hella hot in the upper 80's all week. I just remembered too. I used to daily drive my old 87 CRX Si. It's just not the same as a 2g though.

I have a y7 w/ported z6 mani and b16 tb going in shortly. I'll add a cheap header and intake later on. It'll whoop on a civic/crx si and still get great mileage

I use mine on casual Fridays for now cause I hate driving fun cars in a monkey suit - just not comfortable for me in a shirt and tie.
I did recently go looking for a replacement to the CL for a new daily that's i wont lower and safe - nothing neck snapping but a mini ute with decent gas mileage - test drove:
CRV (totally gutless beyond gutless) - I had to floor it everywhere.
VW Tiguan (GTI 2.0T powered) - fun to drive, zippy, handled great, would love one, but a little pricey for what it is.
Subaru Forester (2009) - me and the wife went expecting to hate it, but it was perfect. In NA form the 2.5 is just enough to get around without trouble, smooth, very roomy. The 2.5XT (Turbo) was freakin awesome, subtle, adult - but may get me in trouble down the line, lol. I want it, if I can get a deal on the 2.5XT, we'll do it, if not, I'm happy with the 2.5 Premium.

I daily my bike everywhere
. Could be driving around, but at my age and the price of gas; driving is a luxury I can only afford for special occasions
. Then again if the EF was still all stock I'd daily it everywhere.
