Is that your room in "A" school? If so, when did they get bunk beds and have 3 people to a room? Guess I was lucky to go when they only had 2 people to a room.

yup, its still 2 people a room but if the rooms start getting filled they start sending new people to different barracks etc.

I'm still in. I got out of active duty in 2008. Did 10 years. I've been in the reserve now for 4 years. When I went through "A" school, that was in 1999, there were only 2 beds in the room. I miss being active duty.

I hear a lot of people talking about missing active duty when they go reserves. Have you thought about coming back active. They really screw you guys for retirement, especially when you were active for 10 years. What rate and rank?

Haha, I hit 11 years active back in October but yeah, lets say I'm in my early 30's.

 

I'm 32 and i hit 6 years in march

 

3 months and counting lol. IF i retire in 20 years i should be 40yrs old and become master chief by then haha.

 

I've thought about coming back to active duty, but the main reason I got out was because of my son. Right now, I'm an AM2, but I work in a cargo unit in Las Vegas. I'm thinking about transferring to a helo squadron in San Diego or if there is a squadron in Lemoore, I might try and transfer there.

 

That's cool, I'm from Vegas. You working at Nellis? I'm an FC1 but I'm hoping to get selected for Chief this year then LDO. I know what you mean about the family thing though. I just finished telling my wife that once my ship gets out of drydock we will basically be going on a 12 month deployment, she took it pretty hard. Luckily my son is only 3 so it is hard for him to understand but damn it sucks.

Yeah, I work at Nellis as an aircraft painter. There aren't many Navy guys that work for my company, but we've been embarassing the former Air Force guys with the quality of work and our knowledge of more than one aircraft system. My reserve unit is here in Vegas, too. I've been working on trying to put on 1st for a while.

 

I'd rather be former Air force and worse at painting then be Navy and like other dudes

 

 

True, sorry to tie up the thread. Back to some DC's! Hopefully I will be posting some pics soon, in the middle of some work on it right now.
