but according to what you're saying here is the paddle shift cars basically suck compared to manuals.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Not at everything... If all you like to do is cruise around town or you drive in traffic a lot... maybe if you only have one arm or only one leg I can see needing an auto... but to me it just isnt a car if it drives itself. When you start lessening what the driver has to do it becomes mroe of a machine then a toy.

my earlier post, reference the bold:

haha, you really don't know me. the truck should be getting a nice engine makeover during winter/spring time.
well... if I ever get my stock motor track runs done.

you know... basically the sequential shift cars are meant to be used as automatics, but you probably wouldn't talk crap on an smg m3, porsche, or ferrari.
btw, in drag racing the automatics are alot more consistent and much better suited than a manual trans when built right. </TD></TR></TABLE>
the fastest cars do not run a manual trans.(well, outside the world of fwd's)

it's a car if it gets you from point a to point b without you peddling, pushing, pulling, or sitting on top of it. and cars are machines, have you not noticed the mass specially constructed metal parts that make up a car?

Point me to the other thread with eg hatch owners. The day I got my car I did a search for a thread about it and I ended up here.

I'm sorry about being confusing. What I'm trying to say is having a daily driven car that is an auto is fine but if you're really into cars and like to drive your car hard I just feel that it should be a stick shift. If you really want to autox an automatic be my guest.

alot of open track racers are going to be pissed that their paddle shift cars aren't as accepted in the performance racing world as much as a conventional manual.

my idea of an auto tranny is something you use on the street when you are to lazy to shift yourself. They come in granny cars and college girls love them. This is why I say they should not be in fast cars.

Since you guys insist on bringing up drag racing... Theres a bit of a difference here. They are used to speed up shifting and to remove human error. While this makes them good for going fast in a straight line it still makes me sick. I'm a hardcore purist. I'm not the type of person to put a v8 in an rx-7 no matter how much faster and reliable it is... I just think some things should be a certain way no matter what.

so you're just stuck in your ways?

without progession and innovation we'd all still be riding horses. Ignorance and stubborness(I really doubt that's a word btw ) does nothing to promote any form of sport, all 'purist' means to me is a person that is afraid of change. there is nothing pure about throwing an integra motor in a civic, it doesn't belong there but that doesn't stop anyone from bettering thier cars power potential.

I was just thinking how that pisses me off... If a person is trying to build a replica CTR I dotn see why they put a b18c in it. I only let it slide as its at least in the same family of engines as the original.

since we're clearly coming from to different perspectives on this supject we can just leave it...

In other news... I'm buying some strut bars from some guy tomorrow.
