the down fall to cali is you have such higher standards for cars now adays and in the midwest you see a good car its a good day. the standards of good cars are lower here we dont expect much just a nice swapped or turboed civic and most of those cars in the pics look like they have never seen a track in their life. too flashy i build my car to look half way decent and haul ***. well the haul *** thing is on stand by at the moment but you get what im saying

^^^True that, Cali is spoiled with nice car's everywhere but with that we have a price to pay, and that's thieves. I'm sure theft is a common rate practically everywhere but I highly doubt it can top Cali, also cop's here are major dick's and I **** bricks everytime one is behind me.

well actually..i know most of those cars are daily driven...and now K-series is the new B-series...correct me if i'm wrong but a lot of people in cali prefer n/a as opposed to boost..i know a couple of those cars at the show have seen the track and at the same time are flashy and are good show cars. i believe that here in cali, most everyones mind is set on performance, hp/torque, show, and a lot of people still want their ride to be daily driven as well...
as for the strict laws of cali, there are ways to get around them so they're not that bad. i know of a couple of places here in the desert that will smog your car with a swap if both people see eye to eye (if u know what i mean)...and about ref's..yeah they're a pain in the ***....down in the desert where i live it's not that bad..so i don't complain. the cops can be dicks every now and then but as long as you don't give them a hard time or be a expletive smart *** with them then most of the time they're cool and understand that what we do is merely a hobby...not like we're trying to cause trouble...

if a ref = inspection, then yes in my state. ref sounds more like a ticket you have to get cleared to me...

obd1 cars just get a "safety" inspection... catalytic converter (at least make it look like it is) and factory installed emissions equip. has to be there (and look like it works) and they check your tires, lights, wipers and horn.

see this is the funny part... here in cali we don't have safety inspections, just smog. and smog is once every two years. of course it's $30-75(highest I've seen so far anyway), but that covers two years.. which is why I'm smogging the truck when its due this december then modding the motor afterwards, I'll worry about passing smog when the time comes again.
btw, the fact we don't have safety inspections means there are ALOT more unsafe cars on the roads around here, compared to states with safety inspections.

ok you are the 2nd person within 5min that i had to read a whole novel on why my thoughts are wrong. lol not hating but i dont like reading. all is see in cali is people spending thousands on jdm parts made SPECIFICALLY FOR THE TRACK and they put them on the daily driver. you look at a real jdm car that an actual tuner uses as a DD it is no where near the same as what some people try to make them seem in the states. im just saying we spend so much more for a track part then we should for a real jdm street piece

although, I never quite agreed with it.. jdm parts mean nothing to me, if the quality of a cheaper american made(or wherever) is better or as good as the jdm piece I see no reason to pay 100% inflation on the jdm piece because of its brand. function/quality > jdm junk

also track parts on a street car may make no sense.. but in my opinion the import world thrives on one thing, efficiency. a full built domestic track car would be alot less fun to drive everyday than a built import track car.. and the gas efficiency helps in DD situations, its a way of having your sports car, but being responsible about it.
