whatever is equivalent or similar to the VX hatch.

cx/vx hatch is not the same as a dx sedan, no way in hell. IIRC CX/VX came from the factory at 2080 or something like that, the dx sedan was maybe 2300, now I am curious so I'm gonna have to look it up.
Edit, I was close 2094 for the 2 hatches, 2275 for the sedan

I have to agree with him. I remeber having this discussion a while back about the 96-00 civic sedan vs. hatch. I know it seems the other way.
I found this: 1997 LX sedan 2405, 1997 hatch 2238/2304
1998 DX sedan 2319, 1998 hatch 2392

No that's wrong. The CX/VX is 2094... The DX sedan is 2275 which is the same as a DX hatch, but it's still 181 pounds heavier than a VX.

you can strip 180 lbs almost.

you guys are right. I did not remember correctly. However, the 98 specs were what I did somewhat remember where the sedan was lighter than the hatch. I got the generations mixed up. I believe it was the same discussion you were referring to a while back.

96 EX sedan = 2319lbs
96 CX hatch = 2238lbs
net difference of 81 lbs.

That's not right, the EX sedan weighed 2568, the DX sedan is the one that weighed 2319 and that's only the AT version, the manual version weighed 2370... Furthermore the CX hatch weighs 2222lbs, NOT 2238. I don't know where you're getting those numbers from lol.
So your figure should actually read
96 EX sedan = 2568
96 CX hatch = 2222
net difference of 346 lbs in favor of the hatch, NOT the sedan.
