hey hey hey. frame pads are functional! wont see me rock a spoke card tho.. and i think u mean hipsters of the cycling scene.. whatev floats ur boat. there just commuter bikes.. who gives?????????

jesse's a hater. he has a frame pad made out of kotex, so he doesn't leave a snail-trail on his top tube.

If u mean for skidstopping, then gyros are necessary too for spinnin ya handlebars... u should have a front brake
That said, next year I will probably build a bike solely for the purpose of stunting through Williamsburg and the LES, one pant leg up, trackstanding and skid-stoppin up a storm... but I acknowledge that it will be for that purpose alone, and I'll have my beater for actual riding

mtn bike for on campus, between class commute
FG for group riding and fun stuff
road for home routes, as it is unfortunately not flat at home..

i agree with this to an extent, for me...
mountain for family rides(i have a 7 yr old) and trails.
FG for everything else!

i ride fixed for my commute and local fixed group rides.
road bike for long quiet rides along the bay, the massive hills around here, and road group rides.
both are great. i love my bikes.
