fixed gear bicycle
i'm riding 25c armadillo elites at the moment, JUST got through my 23c's after like 5-6 months of riding.
the 25c literally has SOOO little clearance on either side of the stays...i'm glad i have tensioners =\
i'll snap a pic later. the 04 FTPs are nice because they can account for wider rear rubber in the back, the 05s seem to not be able to take anything more than a 25c wide tire. no chance of using a rando in the back of mine =\

i just threw a 28c rando cross on my track bike since i planned on riding on my trip to seattle and chicago and it's working out fine, don't really notice the added weight or any sort of slowness from the large tread pattern.

the 04 ftp can take at least a 28, for a short period I had 28c armadillo's front and back, but it felt slow . Now I use 23s , vittora rubino pro in the front , and gatorskin in the back , but I'll have to look into that everwear .
BTW , what is everyones gearing ratio? mine is 2.9 , I dont think I would barely notice changing it to 3.0 , 49/16= 3.06 or 47/14 = 3.4

im debating what to step up to . As of now , im using a 2.9 ratio , I dont think I would even notice going to 3.0 , I have my eye on this shimano "skunk works" dura ace chainring which is 48, so i guess if i used a 15 I would be at 3.2 .
i was using 50/14 for awhile but it was killing my knee on hills(tore acl). i run 46/14 now and love it but still kinda hurts after awhile. i guy i work with runs 50/12 onone of his bikes.

They'res a bunch of hills here , and I muscle through em , but I prefer the harder gearing to go faster on flats . I hated riding 47/18 , I could never keep up with friends .

I'm thinking about switching to 44/17. Hills suck.

This is one of many hills in Seattle- I see experiences roadies walking up some of these as well.
I would ride down them with 48/17 gearing...but would never try with a 50/15 gearing
It flattens out, but keeps going up about 3x as far

Theres one hill like that near me ( saratoga @ charles md people ) It sucks riding all the way up it , but it doesnt kill me . Id be more worried about riding down it than up it .
My commute only has a few long hills, most of them are about as long as that area in that picture, but a little steeper. Then back down, then back up again, and keep repeating the whole way. [freak]ing glaciers.
