did you guys know that an 88 hf and a 91 SI have almost completely different main harnesses? weve spent the last 2 weeks of work depinning and repinning clips. hope the damn thing starts....

yes. 88-89 are entirely different than 90-91

why did you do that
if you are wiring a b16 up just add the wires need directly to the ECU.
Better if you swap to obd-1 w/ a jumper harness.
you can make a obd-0 b16 obd-1 w/ the proper distributor, injectors and a o2 sensor.

the wiring from the motor to the ecu isnt the issue. the issue is simply that the main harness in the 88 hatch was destroyed and butt connected. we wanted to use the main harness from the 91 si because it was in much better condition. he is saying that the 88 main harness is different than the 91 si in that the si harness has llike 10 more wires than the 88.
simple enough?

no no no
use the original harness
the connection for the Si and HF/DX are not the same
Go to the junk yard and get the harness that is for your car. Only use that to plug on your car.
thats step one
If you already have a Si harness that good because you will need some plugs ffrom that harness anyway when you add the stuff you need. Like for the distributor, resistor box and injectors.
But as far as engine bay and dash harness keep them original.
I'm telling you this because it is the easiest way w/out doing a whole lot of hacking.
If you have ever done a mpfi-dpfi conversion b4, thats exactly what you are going to be doing.

once the ENTIRE 91 harness is put into the 88 hatch, it wont make a difference between mpfi and dpfi because the motor and the car are no longer dpfi. the 88 hatch will essentially have the exact same wiring harness as it is on the 91.
i dont see the hacking as an issue. the only wires that needed to be modified and de-pinned was the ground wire on the fuel pump and the plugs on the taillights were different. everything else works just fine. all we did was swap shells.
