There's several how-to's online

I'm always so suprised the US didn't get the transtop models. That is the main character of a Sol in my opinion. It is much heavier though....

Yeah I agree, and del sols are the only car to every have transtop( I think)

But how's the ride height of the seat? Is it low like the del sol sears or does it sit pretty high in a del sol?

Seriously? Only car ever?

They've been making electric hardtops since 1934.

i was gonna build up the one in my prelude and swap it over but it got destroyed.
Running about 12:1 compression with aftermarket pistons, NA. With Skunk2 Pro2 Cams etc. Hoping to see 260 but we'll see

Just revving it to 4k is quicker off the line than my S2K up to 5 so can't wait til it's fully tuned.... Kseries RBC manifold coming next....

Same height as OEM, as you're re-using the pans and rails

BMW 318i/325i Cabrio, Lexus SC430, Chrysler Sebring, Chrysler 200 (the new sebring), Volkswagen EOS, Volvo C70, or Mazda MX-5 -- all available currently (or very recently), in the USA. Not to mention, most of those models have had retractable hard tops for 5-6 years. The big comeback of the electric hard-top was with the SC430 back in 2001. There was a HUGE boom around 2006.

In fact, there's more cars available now with hard drop-tops than there ever was before.

I'm not mad or offended here. You just sound like you're opening your mouth before researching anything.

LMAO dude!! you got issue. I seriously don't care about those other cars or about how smart you think you are because you know that those cars have convertable/retractable tops. I never said that i was right and you were wrong or things as such too. All I was saying was complimenting a fellow Soler about how clean his car was, how I want to see his interior because it looks dope and how it's rare to see a "DEL SOL" or any car with transtop similar to a Del Sol. Especially in the U.S. If your trying to start a fuss you can go else where. This is why everybody hates being on Honda-tech, because there's arrogant people like you who think you know everything. I don't know who you are or what you do okay so i'm just going to leave it at that. All im here to do is compliment other soler about their car, to learn and help each other. While your arrogant self is here to try to show off how smart you are saying things like "oh im smarter because I know this and this about cars and that your stupid you should do more research".

You're the new generation of this site, and I am a dinosaur. I've been here since this was a technical resource, and not just a gossip community. I am not showing off, or being a know-it-all. I'm simply correcting misinformation.

Converse to your stance -- most people hate being on Honda-Tech because of people like YOU. You open your mouth without doing research first, give wrong information, and generally bring about a level of discourse with older members. If you do not KNOW the answer to a question, don't answer it. If you are not SURE of what you're saying, don't. I'm rarely wrong because I rarely open my mouth unless I'm 100%. That's how it used to be here. People were flamed for being WRONG, not for being SMART.

TL;DR -- This website is shitty because it's full of idiots.

PS - The reason you don't see cars with roof mechanisms similar to the del Sol Transtop is because it's a BAD design, prone to failure.

Red + Dolphin front = all sorts of win. Do the EM1 lip, color-matched. No bueno on dolphin + mouldings. I mocked them up on mine ... looked funny.

Okay whatever I guess I'll be the one to take it up as an adult and say Im sorry for wording my comment wrong but I think it's immature to be arguing with you through the internet anyways but whatever. For a Vet. like you, you should've of learned better manners and stop being rude. Just because i'm new to this site does not mean that I lack knowledge in certain things and just because your a dinosaur to this site doesn't mean that you can go around telling people to shut their mouths. Learn some manners and appoarch things differently next time. Im done with talking to you. I've seen your car online before and I respect what you've done to your car but I don't respect you for your rudeness. But whatever, do your own thing and I'll do mine.

Ps. that was the whole point of my comment that you don't see cars like del sol because "it's a rare breed". And the reason is even what you said "prone to failure" causing Del Sol to be a rare breed with only transtop like sols especially during it's timeline.

Transtop del sols was a poor design and are prone to mechanical failures. the ones that own the TT stateside always have problems. plastic gears that wear and break, mess of electronics to troubleshoot when it fails, and first year leaky seals.

shame we didn't get it and more engineering went into the design.
