My dd (eg1) just took a ****. I started it and a few seconds later it made the most AWFUL snapping/ crunching noise from the engine. Its not the timing belt, and i popped the VC real quick and everything appears ok but i didnt take time to really look hard... it seriously sounds like a valve went into one of the combustion chambers, and runs that way too

We're having a kegger tonight so il look at it tomorrow if im not too hung over i guess.

upgrade the rotor itself, would it help w/ braking at all? i mean the pad is still biting the same surface.. and bigger rotor=heavier so could be slower braking? i dunno i'm just guesssing haha lo0ks go0d tho...

a larger rotor gives you more leverage and more cooling.

lol you got it totally wrong, why would people put larger rotors on if it would worsen braking? think of it as increasing the amount of leverage the caliper has on the rotor, i guess thats a simple way of looking at it.

**damnit beat me to it

not at all.. lo0ks good ahha damn it i wish i'm not lazy and go learn how to edit haha

as for braking i understand why people upgrade bigger brakes haha just don't see it when it comes to JUST the rotor beside the cooling purpose mentioned ... unless you're tracking it, for normal driving purpose, you don't need it to cool down that fast since you don't brake often .. the heavier rotors >cooling purpose IMO

i need bigger rotors, but not for leverage; i need them for heat buildup. been contemplating a brake setup, but i may be making a large move in my life in the next few months that might spell out getting rid of the sol. we'll have to see!

The rotors are only slightly heavier, its not really that big of a deal. And I agree that you don't need a Big Brake kit or anything for DDing.

as stated, larger rotor increases the leverage, making the brakes more efficient i guess?

In fact most aftermarket rotors weigh less than stock. with stock wheels and a stock engine setup stock brakes work better than fine.

Once you start upgrading, autocrossing or tracking your car then you need to pay a little attention to brakes.

Yeah, I guess so with them being drilled or slotted. And maybe a lighter metal of some sort.

plus, increasing brake rotor diameter, has hardly any negative effect on performance (such as by adding more rotational mass?) i ran the same times/speed at the strip as when i had 10.3" rotors, as i do with my 11.8"s

haha nice.. my car got in the ownage haha .. dual exhaust setup would lo0k better if a) get lip kit (b) smaller muffler tips..

as for Brakes, more leverage to me would be having better calipers.. it's like eating a pie.. either u have a slice or the whole piece, u still take the same size bite everytime, just that u get to eat more when u have the whole pie rather than a slice haha .. whereas if u have bigger mouth ( caliper) u get to chunk it down more haha if that makes any sense at all..

I've covered the dual exhaust issue like 20 pages ago, but when I bought the car they were on it and eventually im ganna ditch the exhaust for a ws2.
