del Sol thread v 2.0!
So finally posting results/pics/vids/timeslips from the race this past saturday
got everything uploaded and organized
I will try and keep it as short as possible and limit whoreage the best I can, but you know me
First off, I already posted it but I got it tuned a week ago and made 168whp and 150ft-lb tq
Dyno Sheet:

Vid:

Went to the track last fri night but it got rained out (RIGHT after I got teched, changed the wheels/tires, and ready to race/line up
)
didn't matter since there was a bigger race event the following Sat morning (Import Warz @ New England Dragway in Epping, NH) so it would be a better time to race anyways and only tried on fri to get some practice and I was so eager/anxious
Woke up super early sat morning and headed to the track despite the cloudy weather and very light drizzle
it wasn't raining so the race was still on
random: saw a line/caravan of a lotus/ferrari convert/viper/porsche on the way up there
wanted to race them lol but they took a turn
just feeling confident and tired/exhausted (always don't sleep before race day and also stayed up late going to the movies
)
Back to the story,
got there and teched the car with no problems
Afraid they were going to give me trouble for my tucked/relocated battery and no cut-off switch
And also for my Takatas (even tho I kept the OEM belts just in case for this reason)
but I passed
Got back to the pits and set up the tent, changed my wheels/tires, and did everything else to get ready to race

Slicks in front (23" MTs on 13" Gold Lensos)

Skinnies in back (15" Polished Bogarts with MH Tires)

Notice the extendeds on both ^^^
No Silencer of course when racing:

Had the helmet ready in hopes of running 13.99 or lower because thats when the track requires you to wear one

Apexi Tach on when racing/at the track:

Last year my best time was 14.7 at 91 mph
but that was when I had the wrong/jdm injectors with less power, which when I found out later explained the slow times...
so now with the right injectors and other things improved/fixed/changed which produced more power I expected to do better, but that was all I really wanted
First run of the day (after a year since last being on the track racing my car)
was a 14.119 at 98.38 mph
Here's the time slip:

Timeslips: You'll see later in pics that my number was "433" and was written all over the windshield and windows to prove my car ran the numbers (also have videos too which are undenyable)
not like i would lie anyways and even if I were it would be for faster times
All runs that day were in the right lane(I prefer/like it) and on the right side of the slips as you can see by the numbers at top
Also I won all my races that day not that it matters and was just lucky racing slower cars but thought it was a bit of a accomplishment
I was very happy just to do better than my previous record but knew I could do better and the car had more in it, just had to prove/show it
Didn't really change much and went back up again
I ran 13.986 at 98.50mph

So happy to finally break into the 13s (barely) but still knew it had more in it
wanted to lower the ETs and also maybe hit 100mph
Top end was fine (couldn't do much since it depends on power and gearing) but definitely could and needed to improve on my launch
Was only doing 2.0 60' with the slicks, which I was doing on street radials so I obviously could/should do better
so I lowered my tire pressure from 11psi to 9psi and tried to do a better burnout (others said mine were okay but could be better)
could master launching a lot easier with launch control, but it was working and didn't fix it yet and had to do it old school just by revving
Also decided to take my headlight out to see if it would help out a bit:

So my next run I launched a little better and ran a 13.885 but still at 98.05
I was still taking it easy on the launch so only did a 1.9 60' and wanted/knew I could still do better if I just launched harder

Did a really good burnout (as others have said after) and tried to launch even better/harder
It worked and paid off and ran a 13.709!!!!!
(almost 13.6 and almost two tenths faster than before) and still at 98.67mph (consistent all day) so a little faster but not 100mph
but I didn't care about the mph and was happy with the ET improvement

so it just proves my launch was where I needed improvement because that ran I finally got it down to a 1.8 60' which is clearly where I shaved off the time to get my ET lower
The better 60' was because I hit it harder on the launch and was able to because of the burnout
Here's a pic of said burnout:

More pics of "aftermath" of that burnout:

Think I did a good enough burnout?
That was my last run of the day and put my wheels and other stuff back on, cleaned up and went home after as it was probably going to rain soon
It might have been the best race day I had with my car the entire time I've been racing it
as even tho they times weren't the fastest and have ran faster before when I was turbo B-series, I improved and got lower and lower times throughout the day with each run by driving it better
I just felt I really released the potential of the car and motor that day and got the best I could out of it
So here's the best part....the videos (unfortunately didn't get them all on film but the good ones did):
Here's the 13.8, my third run:

Video footage was good (taken by my dad) as far as angle, position, etc IMO
Wanted a video like this for a while
Plan on editing it and compiling the other videos very soon
Just got to learn and play with movie maker
Here's a video of the 13.7, not as good of a video but is proof of my fastest/record time, again not like i would lie

So I'm very very happy with my car and everything and this is when all the work on the swap and fixing everything and money spent has finally paid off IMO
Getting back on the track and running it was a nice reminder to the other reasons why I built the car and did the swap and not just to look nice, drive around, show off, etc
Wanted to put all the parts to use and use the function side instead of just the form...
However, I'm far from done and going to be spraying/juicing the motor within the next month to get it ready for NOPI that is coming to New England Dragway the first weekend in August
I'll be ready with a ?? shot of nitrous
I could've already sprayed last saturday but wanted to see what it could do stock/NA before I did, so I know how much faster it makes me go
Also hoping to go to HondaDay the following week in e-town NJ (will be the 4th year in a row) so I can finally get another "full" time slip from race way park after my first and only one I got last time of me blowing up my b-series 404whp ls-vtec motor on the first run lol

There is a mounting kit avalable that uses glue and the windsheeld mounts.
I have tried other ways and this is by far the most stable and best looking.
other ways make the mirror shake.

I have one installed in both my cars. love not having to turn my head to check for cars, there is no blind spot.

Thanks, yea I love the look of extended studs with extended lugs
Awesome you got your set up ready too
all the studs are pretty much the same, I just went with skunk2 cause they were available local, but not much different from ARP, OBX, etc
I think some of them will sit flush with the lug nuts and aren't tapered like mine
Moroso makes those ones I believe and they are black not gold
Good luck putting them in as I said the Front are a PITA compared to the Rears...took me 3times as long
and the muteki's should look great and glad you got them
know you been wanting them for a while

I like the mirror a lot, definitely looks functional
Might get one and try it on my beater first before I get one for the sol
but it definitley looks good on your car BOOM3R
I really want to find that pic of one on a mugen'd out black DC2
And I believe it was memphis that said the oem wing is just a rear view mirror blocker
Its true but the positive side is that it helps block off blinding headlights from cars following/behind you at night
I do remember going from wingless to wing and how it was a huge adjustment driving with that think behind me blocking my view

motor is all stock other than the turbo so im trying to stay safe lol. all this turbo talk is like spanish to me, really new to it

no offence, but to me it sounds like you REALLY wernt ready to just go throw a turbo on your car..
turbos arnt really somehting you want to just throw on, un-researched, something you gotta be prepared for, like with your clutch, tuning situation.. atleast your getting it done now though, and learning along the way
good luck to you
oh, and a clutch option you may want to look into.. look at lsdmotorsports.com i have one of their extreme pressure plate, with street disk.. i LOVE my clutch.. its VERy stiff, but once you get used to that, it drives like stock.. they are very reasonably priced..
-----------------------------------
and Will, not gunna lie, your car looks soooo sexy in race form
awesome times for only haveing ~170whp
i need to mount my radials and get out there again.. i havent been in soo long.. my best is still at a 14.01 @ 104mph with a like 2.4 60' (track is terribleeee, and all seasons, spinning all the way to 3rd
) so i have alottt of improvement to make.. i dont think a high 12 at like 108mph would be out of the question in my car if i can get a decent 60' (raced cars that have run 12's and trapped 110mph, and hung with them on the highway...sooo
)
get that MPH up!

I think I have decided I am gonna offer the shell to the guy for $1,200 firm. There are dents on the car, so it's not as clean as it looks in pics (I'm just a damn good photographer or something, who knows
) so I think that is fair. After the shell sells, I will have a huge list of parts on here, mostly OEM swap parts and some aftermarket goodies

finally got my dSoc sticker, can't wait to slap it on and represent. gotta wait till the weather clears up a bit so i can wash the baby and put it on.
thanks sarge! thinking about ordering another one. i'll let you know.

Isn't it funny how my car is lower when its at the track than on the streets? lol
Maybe I should drive around in race mode all the time '

The best feeling is after a long day of racing and good results/times is swapping tires and putting everything back to make it streetable and driving home from the track
Its almost weird and I kept asking myself and my passenger the entire time "did I just race this same car today?"
I'm sure your car has a lot more in it as well and trust me when I tell you it feels great to improve your time with the same setup and really driving the car to its full potential
because you're just using yourself to get better/go faster rather than spend more money on parts and adding more boost/nitrous to go faster...
No point in having more power if you can't even use the power you have and can't lay it down...
I would love to reach 100mph like I said and might race it again the way it is before I spray for NOPI
Maybe I shouldn't of been afraid just used my 24.5" slicks instead of borrowing my buddies 23", as I think I could of handled them with my torque and weren't too big like I thought and they would help me trap a bit higher with bigger diameter

Next time maybe
Also I still think I should be doing better 60' times with slicks
I have done 1.7 before turbo with 22" slicks
My buddy, guy whom I borrowed the slicks from, in his K20A2 Type-S EG cut a 1.5 with the same tires (and ran an 11.2 at 110+mph)
I think I will have to bite down and buy the full race pro-am bar like he to get those kind of low 60' times

His car is inspiration for me to juice my car as he has proven stock Ks can hold a lot of nitrous and make a lot of power
If you could get your 60' times (easiest yet hardest way to improve track times) I'm sure you could see some 13s no problem or maybe even high 12s (I would love just to dip into the 12s myself but realistically can't go too fast and hit 11s, not saying I will even come close, as I will need a cage which is not something I want to do...with my del sol anyways)
You're mph is definitely up there which proves the power is there and turbo/motor is working...220 is it?
you plan on turning up the boost at all?
We should meet halfway in maryland or virginia at a track and race

Would be a good match wouldn't it? For fun of course

Best of all no problems and results just kept coming
LOL, it wasn't too bad and have experience wiping rubber off my car
and also on the dyno when rubber flings off a high horsepower car thats spinning the tires and hits you in the legs...not fun lol
I gave it a quick wipe down before I left and the windows too to get all the numbers off (cops will ticket right outside the track if you leave it on
)

Probably easy to do by using relativity/prespective tricks and taking the pic near something huge to looks small by comparison or just from really far away lol

I would love to reach 100mph like I said and might race it again the way it is before I spray for NOPI

i wish i had a track closer, closest track (Orlando speedworld, on pinks all the time
) suckssss aka Orlando spinworld
i had buddies run that track get a like 2.6 60', then go to Gainsville (next closest track, but muchhhhh nicer) and cut a 1.7 60' ON THE SAME TIRES! lol i need to get to the track more though, i mean, ive only been twice, and only gotten 2-3 runs both times, so i hadnt had much chance to improve
my car has soo much more potential at the track, i mean nitto neo_gens arnt exactly the best tire to launch on
especially on a cold night with no burnout hahai was sooo suprised/happy when i made my first ever run, i think it was like a 14.6 @ 102 (2.6 60'
) just to see that i broke 100mph on my first ever run! i need to get something to put my new BFG radials on, might just have to put them on the cpr's (not my first choice cause they are like 14lbs each
) but i might have to.. cuase if i can get my 60' to like a 1.8-1.9ish, im high 12's easlyy.. my 60' is killing meyea im at ~220whp ~200tq, **** i kinda want to go with my car the way it is (on the yoko s.drives) cause these tires hook soooo much better then the neogens ever did, i could easly dip into 13's even on these.. no more boost, 220 is about the safe limit on a stock d16, so im not gunna push it anymore since its my daily, maybe eventually i'll put somehting else in, but im kinda content with what i got now
we'll have to line up at IA (if you go!)
im bringin my radials
