sounds good matt
so i got my first welding lesson at like 2am this morning. did pretty damn good for my first time. think i impressed my friend a lil bit. with some more practice i could get it down really good. i cant wait to start welding my own stuff up. he even gave me a brand new welding helmet for free cuz he had better ones lol. but its still an auto dimming one so its good enough to start with for me

This came by my shop the other day.

Nothing earth shatering but definitely a legend in my little world. I love this car and everything it stands for in my mind.
Also, my two pieces of transportation side by side:

and i saw this in the field behind my paint guys house. Yes, its an original '64 and a half, 4 speed that came with the 289 thats obviously not there.

actually ty, its been since the end of august so a little more than 2 months. lol
so today i finally finished replacing every single bushing on my da. when i took it for a test drive i def noticed a difference. the suspension feels a hell of alot tighter than before. the car had 190k on the original bushings. half of the bolts were seized and had to be cut out. oh and my asr subframe brace came in today and i already have an asr 24mm sway bar to go with it. this car is going to feel amazing when i finally get to drive it for real and not just around the block for a test run.
yes auto dimming ftw! it was so nice using it while watching him show me how to do it and then actually practicing. its also got adjustable sensitivity as well. and mig welding
man what a waste
man i seriously cant wait to replace all of my bushings. they need done soooooooo bad

MIG welding is easy to pick up Andy. It's 90% getting the ride current and wire feed and 10% skill. TIG is just about the opposite lol. That being said, I'm not so hot at TIG welding.
Tigging mild steel isnt to bad, i picked it up rather easy coming from a certificate in structural mig welding. Tig welding AL though is kicking my ***, i have been trying to get my gramps heli arc dyled in and i just cant get the rod to tab without it blowing away and melting.
Trying to weld my bungs on my valve cover, and its been pissing me off trying to get that small nice beed. I spool migged a couple on a practice cover and that didnt turn out to bad IMO, but my gramps thought it looked nasty, cause i kinda had to weave it and its bigger of a weld than he likes.
wish i had the money to buy a nice miller inverter and a nice little 220 Lincoln with a spool gun attachment.
lol yeah i always knew if i could get the chance to get on a mig i could pick it up quick, it was just a matter of time. now i have my own mig (sadly, its just a flux core, no gas tank. but still something to learn on) and a helmet. now i need scrap metal, some welding gloves and jacket, and more scrap metal lol.
i'm gonna hold off on tig for a while lol. plus i dont even know anyone who has a tig
i am really going to enjoy learning to weld. after knowing how to weld and getting good at it, possibilities are endless

its not one of those harbor frieght flux cores is it..? I was spoiled when i learned to weld mig, using a school's 5 thousand dollar Lincoln welder. lol. bought we had to be certified in 3/8 in every position for stick welding before we were allowed to even pick up a mig welder gun.
The only thing that sucks about those little no gas flux welders is well a true flux core still needs gas, the mixture is different from a standard copper wire. We had one of the Lincoln machines set up for flux and i learned that. Then one day at work( i work at a paintball field) we got a set of bleachers that needed a little repair. So my boss brought my one of those flux welders, no gas ones. and i prepped everything that was needed, grinded the **** out of everything, grooved my butt joints and tryed to start welding, and while it worked, well it just looks like ***. Makes trying to do a nice weave pretty tricky.

its not a harbo freight but its still a cheaper one. my friend used it to make me a temp exhaust on my da last month and it did a good job, just looked like *** lol. but like i said, it gives me something to learn and practice on. better than nothing
Hows it going guys.......I bought some heaters for the garage so maybe some work might get done for once. Other than that, there isnt really any update. I though about putting up a build thread but IDK? I have tons of pics of the body and rust repair that was done and minor things but that is about it really.
I think my starter is going out, having weird, slow, and funny sounding start ups and I know my battery is good. Anyone have a spare starter?
