Why whats up wit it?

Dam so yesturday getting on the freeway I heard a loud pop sound, ends up being my bolt holding the fork arm to my shock popped. The threads are wasted, so I tightened it back up, and looking for another one and bolt now..

Im trying to figure out why this happened?

yeah i'm a function over form guy too but i want the car to look decent ya know?! if i paint it will be the same color...it's an awesome color.

could have loosened up slightly over time or not fully tightened so over time the pressure of the suspension destroyed the threads

so you got a new exhaust? did you get just the axle back?

 

Ya either losened or was never tight enough. Its weird. It sounded like I hit a can though when it popped. So Im thinking it was maybe tightened but sitting weird on a thread and it popped or something? I think I am going to just run a longer bolt with a lock washer and nut on the end and see how that holds up.

Ya man, I got an exhaust. I actually went to best muffler shop, they did a cat back with 2.25 piping for $120, then I picked up the Megan muffler at a speed shop for 1 bill. So $220 in the end. I love it. So happy with the way it came out, and the welds and bends are great. Plus, my clearance is even better now since they set the piping up really well.

Ya you got a great color man. I need to still buff out my passenger side more. My paint is pretty hammered on my car, but I don't mind it. Thats the last of my worries, I like a little worn look to her.

 

yeah that's wierd. is the fork flat enough to put a through bolt on?

that's not bad at all! my exhaust scrapes a bit every now and then lol

I am not sure if its flat enough. All I could see is the bolt shredded most of the threads off the inside of the fork. I started pulling it out, but then just put it back in and tightened it. I didn't want to make it so it was loose and all the threads were trashed...so as of now no, but I am sure when I back it out it will be flat enough lol..Im going to monitor it, see if it holds.. It might now since half are crushed and half aren't. It seemed pretty dam tight when I put it back on. But who knows lol.

Whats "cut"? I have never heard that with buffing haha. What kind of exhaust do you have?

 

yeah. good luck dude...worst case senario you can hit up a junkie...i can't image they'd be expensive

cutting compound takes out imperfections and it is tougher than buffing...it's the first step in heavy detailing.

i have a pacesetter muffler with straight pipe into it...it's a chambered muffler so it sounds awesome!

Yep LOUD is how I like it. I set off a truck alarm last night revving down my street lmao. Full on alarm too, not like the little 2 beep b.s. hahaha.

Looking forward to the pictures, and I am going to try to do another video of the exhaust. It seemed the further away I got the better. Its SO LOUD it picks it up as "raspy" b/c Im guessing the camcorder can't read the sound waves lol.

yeah it's really nice! it sounds awesome! almost like a wrx and it's nice and quiet when i'm just cruising around

I bought some stuff, it worked to an extent, but not heavy enough for some of the spots. And its all good man, I was just saying it would be cool to hear. We got mine, EK's, just need yours now haha
