Default your a/f ratio? better combustion camber design = leaner more power?

What is your a/f mixture with a 9:1 cr engine and about 14psi boost on B18C engines?

Also, do you exact know if you are making the most power with 12.5:1 or with 13.5:1 a/f mixture?

I´ve heard that a car with a good combustion camber (lika Honda, especialy ITR) can run safe a /f ratio of 14:1. A car with a bad designed combustion camber (lika Lancia delta HF Integrale) must run 13:1 to be safe. Some cup cars with 1.6 litre displacements and 200bhp run 14:1 too and this is safe.

What is the experience in *Honda tuning land* USA?!?!?!

i would go with the 12.5:1 just to be safe 13.5:1 seems a little lean to me

On a turbo Honda youd want to run at most a 13:1 A/F ratio. Any leaner and your just asking for detonation. my $.02

my ratio is between like 13.2-13.8. it leans out to like 13.8 in the 6500 to 8000 range and then starts richening up as it climbs to 9400 rpms. i use 116 octane though. i've seen cars (hondas) close to 15:1 on race gas and last a long time. i'd keep it @ 12.5 - 13.0 to be safe.

I keep my air/fuel ratio's between 12:1~12.5:1. This is on 93 octance pump gas. Its true that the vtec have a good combustion chamber, but detonation occurs regardless of the combustion chamber design at some point. I use the turbo to make the power, not the air/fuel mixture or timing. Hell, even when i was tuning my n/a b16a with cams i was keeping my mixture in the 13.5:1 range. I found the most power running slighty rich, and this was on a n/a engine. Keep your mixture running rich, your asking for problems running that lean.

well with my set up i made 315 whp 230 tq at an 11.0:1 a/f and this is on 91 octane pump gas

I wouldn't run anything higher than 12:1 or 12.5:1 under HIGH boost because then you're just asking for trouble with detonation/pre-ignition.
Max power is supposedly at 12.5:1 but you may want to run richer just to keep cylinder temps cooler (thus reducing the chances of your mixture pre-igniting from the heat)

At high boost we try to stay between 11-12's no higher than 12.5 . Its better to be safe than sorry
