Wrist Pin Circlips - How do you get the damn things out??
Im looking at my SRP pistons, attached to eagle H beam rods. Trying to seperate the pieces, but cant for the life of me grab the circlip used to lock the wristpin in place.
Why dont these suckers have little holes / tabs to grab and open with snap ring pliers??
My smallest needle nose, 90* pick, eyeglass screwdriver... and I still cant get them out.
How do you guys do it?

90 degree pick, grab the end closest to the indent in the bottom of the wristpin indention, wiggle it out but keep your hand over it, pull it out too fast and the circlip will literally fly away

If you are not planning on re-using them(i never do) then grab it with a set of small needle noses, and carefully extract it. I get the gap to the indent on the piston, and kind of bend it in towards the wrist pin, then I am usually able to eek them out. But yes! Watch your eyes!

I've used the small flat head screwdrivers that are used for computer repair to get underneath it and then slowly work your way around. Everyone is right about em shooting off.

For starters why don't YOU post pictures of what YOU are actually working on. There are multiple designs of circlips and different ways to take each of them out.
Also, who removes all 8 of them anyways unless they are severly damagee? You only need to take out 4 of them...

Cant get the damn things out, not a single one.
Its just so "sprung" against the wall with no way to get a pick behind it or even think about grabbing the end. Its almost 2 complete circles of clip aswell
I have no idea how to get this thing out, I tried my smallest flathead screwdrivers and couldnt get behind or under it

literally just tried for almost an hour to get this clip out, wont budge, I can get behind it with a flathead barely, just enough to see a slight gap, and then it pops back in place
There has got to be a specialty tool for this
Im tempted to ruin the piston to get these outta there since there trash anyways, a dremel and a carbide bit would be a big mess though lol

Push at the end of the clip so you can rotate it so the end of the clip is near the divet (but not lined up). Use the divet to get under the clip and pry one end out. One you get it started the rest is easy to pop out. Use a tiny screw driver or pick.

Wow kid, you must have the strength of a wet noodle... they REALLY aren't as hard as you are making them out to be. Either post pictures or stop talking about it already...

Re: Wrist Pin Circlips - How do you get the damn things out??
There is no divet around the clip, its solid with no marks around the entire circumference
I really dont think it has anything to do with strength, Im 6'1" 230 and have great hand strength. I think its more a lack of tooling, I really cant get behind or under that clip end, its under ridiculous pressure and I cant lift more of it out of the groove

Grind out a small section to make it look like this...
It sounds like the wrong circlips were installed for the piston design. They should have been more like these...
