Default Would insufficient oil return...

...cause and look like this? I just finished pulling off the turbo and manifold to tap the mani for an egt probe tonight. I noticed this before but I decided to take a few pics. I'm going to assume that there is not sufficient drain with my setup because of the hardened oil on the bottom shown in the next two pics:

Now my return line was always a little tight to begin with but I didn't think it was that bad. In the next two pics, you can see where the fitting is currently on my pan. Notice where I have the drain line touching the pan. That spot is where no stress is put on the line:

Much lower than where it is when screwed into the fitting. I'm assuming this is why there is harnened oil on the outside of the turbo, due to the oil backing up and trying to squeeze its way out? Do you guys think that is too low to tap the pan? Or should I shorten the line? Either way I'm welding a steel -10an fitting to the pan and getting rid of that bulkhead style with the JB weld.

you can drill the manifold with it still on the car. make sure the car is running so when you are drilling it blows all the metal shavings out.

good luck with the egt.

cut the return line shorter. I had to do the same on a few cars here and I work very very well. I used a 45 degree adapter coming out of the turbo.
