Default WOT for how long?

How long would a turboed honda motor last at WOT or how long have you gone at WOT?

If there are too many factors involved, could you build a turboed honda for that purpose? Pretty much can you Gumball Rally a turboed Honda?

I'm just curious. I read article on the Gumball Rally and was amazed on how the turboed Porsches were able to just go ***** out for miles. Aren't they air cooled too.

there is going to be a turbo prelude in this years gumball race. he's from honda tech.

to answer your question, it all depends on how strong your set up is and how well its tuned. but even still, you can only be under full boost for a short time.

YUP i was told by Jeff at IM that even being fully built (-stock sleeves) and ideal air fuel ratio;
pushing WOT for more than 20sec is really hard on the motor.

A prelude? Really? And don't you have to be a famous or rich person to get in?

15 - 20 seconds at WOT?

The article I read had a list of "Confirmed Rumors". One goes something like:

A friendly cop went along for a ride in one of the turboed Porsches (i think 930) and the driver said he'd stop once he said 'Uncle'. The cop said 'Uncle' at around 185mph. His partner was following in the cop car. hehe

Another funny one goes something like:

A Russian Million/Billionare was seen throwing wads of money out the window to slow down a cop in traffic that was chasing him.

Man that was a good article. The list of Confirmed Rumors was hilarious.

Ive held my civic at 6-7psi for 15mins or so..although it wasnt WOT. EGT was at 800-820C. I was driving through the rockey mtns going up one of the larger grades. Car didnt really seem to mind. The cooling system is the important part. Make sure the motor doesnt overheat. Ive run my eclipse at WOT for 15mins or so going up palomar mtn....i was playing drift racer.

If your cooling system is up to the task you shouldnt have a problem. A good fuel system and cooling systems are key!

Last year I melted my JE pistons doing a WOT run from 75-150 mph on the highway. It was about 20 seconds. This was a B18B @ 10psi. Afterwards the engien ws making this horrible clicking noise.

The car was tuned to run 12.5:1 with Hondata. I had an EGT gauge as well and it didnt indicate anything abnormal. The run was in 5th gear. I think that's important for you to know, because you're putting the most load on your motor in 5th gear.

The funny thing about that was I drove the car all the way to Fullerton (1100 miles) with melted pistons and all, boosting 5 psi off and on the whole trip there.
